I'm planning to rent a jogging stroller for our trip to Disney World and I'd like to know if stroller theft is a problem?

How secure are the strollers when you go on rides or eat in restaurants?

we rented a double stroller last week and never had any issues. There were a couple of times that our stroller had been moved by a Disney worker. They really like you to park them in the designated areas and if you don't, they move them. They have cards that you right your name on and put in a plastic covered flap. There were always plenty of strollers available it seemed, so if you did encounter a theft issue, just contact any Disney worker and they'll help you get another one.

Hope that helps!

oops, I see that you are renting a stroller, but not at Disney. I was talking about the strollers that you can rent at the parks. I'm not sure about stroller theft with other strollers.

We always bring our own strollers...never had a problem.
Sometimes they do move them to a new spot, but it's usually pretty easy to find.

We've brought different strollers over the years - From Maclaren and Zooper to Eddie Bauer Specail Edition to 10$ Walmart stroller. We've never had a problem!

In August I will be traveling for the first time with a stroller. We will have one 16 mo. old and one 4 1/2 yo so I bought an umbrella stroller at a yard sale for $5 and was going to put a luggage tag on it and take a unique bandanna to tie around the handle so it will be easily spotted when we get off of the rides! We want to get another cheap stroller so it is cheaper than rentals at Disney and if it gets damaged, etc. we aren't out any serious money.

We just got back from Disneyworld. We rented a double stroller everyday for our 4 yr old twins. We had absolutely no problems at all. Really...nobody messes with them. You should have no reservations.

I noticed a good tip that people did who brought their own strollers. They must have made lamented signs (maybe 5x7 or 8x10) with their last name and hung them on the back of their strollers (similar to in-park rentals). Saying something like, "this stroller belongs to : The Smith's (in big print). It would help to find your stroller and prevent others with the same stroller from taking your stroller by mistake.

We didn't have any problems with our stroller. I've heard of it happening before, but I think stroller theft is pretty rare. We took ours from home and put a few pieces of fabric on it so that we could easily identify it.
I may be a little nervous, though, about renting a stroller from an outside company if there is a big charge for not returning it (in the case of theft/damage). I read somewhere that the charge could be in the hundreds
($300 I think?). I would check out your contract first and then make the decision.

I was concerned about it the first time we took our dd down - she was only 7 months old and we had a quinny travel system with the carseat on the stroller.

after a day or two of watching it while in line or all but sprinting out of the ride i calmed down and we never once had a problem.

we sometimes left the diaper bag in the bottom carry all but always took our camera bag and my purse. sometimes we brought it into the restaurant but most of the time it was in the stroller area at the front.

we're bringing it again in the spring minus the car seat and won't worry about it

We've been to Disney World a couple of times and never had a problem with our stroller being taken. The odd time a Disney Cast member may move your stroller but usually it's not that far away from its original location.

I'd like to add, as well, that in two trips with a stroller we haven't had a problem at all. We have left the diaper bag stashed when we all went on Winnie the Pooh with no problems. Of course, I always take my purse/camera/videocam/etc with me. I was very surprised at how many purses and cameras I saw in stroller baskets in the various stroller parking areas. I'm not that brave (or naive) I guess! Just because it's Disney, doesn't mean it's 100% safe.

But we never had any problem with our strollers, or anything in them. I mean, who wants to swipe Pampers and wipes, anyway?

We never had a problem when our boys were in a stroller. But, if I was using an expensive stroller now, I'd lock a wheel. You shouldn't lock a stroller to anything, but, you can put a lock through a front wheel. It makes it difficult for a thief though a CM can still move it using just the back wheels.

I wouldn't worry about it. We did laminate a sign (bright pink so easy to spot) and then attached it with those plastic ties that you have to cut off. I figured if that was on it then a stroller thief may choose a different one to take. Really I labeled it so DH and I could find it easily in a sea of strollers. Worked like a charm!

In the our Family trip we went with 4 strollers and have no problems with them. If a cast member moves your stroller you should find it near the exit of the attraction.
