We are planning a trip to WDW 10/31-11/6. This will be our first time with kids (ages 3 and 5). We are staying on site, but at the AS sports, so we will be riding the bus to the parks. I was planning to rent strollers, but that will add up fast!
I am now looking at the Maclaren strollers. The volo looks nice, but should I consider a double stroller? I have a graco duo-glider, but that is out of the question. It's way to cumbersome. Maclaren has double strollers that fold umbrella style. Does anyone have experience with these?

My 5yo walks everywhere, but I can see him getting tired. If I get a double stroller though, I will only use it for this trip. I can't decide what to do! Please help! Thanks!!

Hi there
I just got a Maclaren Volo and it is wonderful. I got it online and got the accessory pack right away. We live in So Fla and go to WDW often so a canopy is a must. My DD is 5yr old and 45 1/2 inches and almost 50pounds. I got it really just for Disney and I could not be happier. Just took it out today for a test at the mall and even with my DD in it I could push and turn it with one hand. She is actually comfortable in it. Lots of room to grow. She will outgrow the need for it before she actually outgrows the stroller. I would highly recommend it.

No matter what you get I would recommend taking at least 1 stroller,2 or a double would be better than renting. My DD will push herself in the park and collapse just about time to catch the bus at night. The walk from the bus to the room can be a killer with a sleeping or exhausted kid. Not to mention going to DD or elsewhere. Have fun. Good luck!

Another option to the Maclaren Volo, is the Silver Cross Micro. Maclaren's are great, I have a Quest for my 3 year old dd, and love it. The micro is even better, and that is saying a lot because Mac's are my favorite! The Micro also has a great carry strap, and come with the hood already, where as with the Volo you have to buy the accessories seperatly. The weight limit thing is not a huge issue, this stroller is just as sturdy if not more than the Maclarens. The U.S. just requires that there be posted weight limits on strollers, but that does not mean a heavier child cannot use it safely, if just means that they did not test the strollers with heavier children in them. Car seats on the other hand could be dangerous if the weight limits are not followed, strollers are different. Here is a link to the stroller :

Also, here is a link to a great stroller message board with lots on info on great strollers!

Hope this helps someone!

Hi there
I looked at the micro and it does look great. I know I am hung up by the weight thing. Volo says 55 pounds and micro is 40 pounds. Thanks for explaining it.

I actually got a great deal on the volo and accessory pack at the link below. The micro is $109.00 but I got the volo and pack at $103/ free shipping. So it could come down to a choice in color whcih is also very important.:D

Hope this helps razorbackdisneyfan!

Let us know what you get and how you like it.

where does it say the volo goes up to 55 lbs
i thought the older version went up to 40 and the new model up to 45

i'm sure this sale model is 40 lbs....

At the Maclaren site. It states that the strollers go up to 55 pounds. That may be for the 2004s not earlier versions. I can tell youthat it carried my 50 pound dd easily. I could push it one handed and turn it one handed.

I am also a big fan of the Maclaren Volo. It is the smoothest and easiest pushing stroller we have tried, and my DD loves to ride in it. Talk about lightweight, only 8 pounds and it folds up very easily and has a strap to carry it if you wish. The best thing about the Volo is the mesh fabric. Your child will not sweat in this stroller, and if you are in WDW and suddenly get one of those quick rain showers when you come out of an attraction, the mesh dries right away, so your child will not be sitting in a wet stroller. Great fabric for spills also, just wipes clean right away. I know a lot of people who use this stroller for their 5 and 6 year olds also, and they said it still pushes like a dream, and their kids feel very comfortable in it. My DD is almost 2 years old, but she is 37" tall already and almost 30 pounds. She still has a lot of head room and leg room left to grow into this stroller. I purchased mine at strollers4less.com for under $80.00 with free shipping and no sales tax. I also got the red poppy color, which is almost impossible to find. Everyone that sees the stroller is always telling us how cool it is and asks where we bought it!!! I love the red also because it is nice and bright and easy to spot when it is parked by all the other strollers at WDW!!!

If you are traveling with another adult then I would get two Volo's instead of a double stroller. These are so easy to carry around with the handy shoulder strap. Also the colors are great too. You could get a different color for each of your kids. I like the poppy red and the marigold yellow! They are both nice and bright. The denim blue is also very attractive. I think strollers4less had 4 colors to choose from. If you don't want to buy two strollers, then get the Volo for your 3 year old and if your older child gets too tired to walk then you could always rent a single stroller at the parks if you need one!

Hope this helps with your decison. Good Luck and let us know what you decide on. :wave2:

we travelled with a baby and a just turned 6 year old last year. We took one stroller for the baby and the 6 year old walked. We planned on renting for her if she needed it, but she never did.

The only time she got tired was at the very end of MVMCP (it was midnight), so we carried the baby and she rode in the stroller then, but other than that, she was quite happy to walk.

Wanted to let y'all know that after much research and agonizing (why is finding the perfect stroller such a hard thing? LOL), I decided on the Silver Cross Micro. I really like both, and was originally going to get the Maclearn Volo, but since weight really isn't an issue (DS is only 28 lbs. Tiny for a 3yo), I liked the styling of the Micro better--it just looked more comfy. I ordered the Brighton pattern. I loved the charcoal with the blue piping accent. I found it for $99 w/free shipping. It shipped today, and I should have it by the end of the week. I'll keep you posted on how I like it!

As for my 5 yo, I decided to just let him walk. He walks everywhere anyway. If he gets tired we can let him sit in the stroller for a while, or go rent one. Not really that big of a deal, I decided.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Can't wait to try out my new stroller!

It is funny isnt it?? I remember getting excited over a new blouse or a new cd or something for me. Now I too get excited over strollers and diaper bags!! :teeth: This is just driving me insane trying to find the perfect stroller! Thank you for the link!! When you get your new "toy" lol, let us know how you like it! :wave2:

Razorbackdisneyfan, Thank you for that link. I just ordered the Silver Cross Micro in royal red! It does seem more comfy with the padding! I was down to the micro or the mini. I just could not justify spending $50.00 more for the same stroller just for the reclining seat! :D ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Daisylove, Thank you also about the Combi beign Narrow! You were right!!! We stopped at a babiesrus today and they had the combi soho and my 28 month 26 lb DS seemed to fill it right up! And it really does not recline that far. :D Now I cant wait for my new stroller to come!!

Hey guys,
Let us know what you think of the Silver Cross. I bought the volo before I learned of the micro(here on the boards) and I am thrilled with it so I can't be all that upset that I found out too late. But I am curious about the silver cross. Hope you like it as much as I do my volo.

Hi! I'm so excited, that I just had to share this with someone! My DH doesn't understand what the big deal is, but I thought some of you might. I've been reading these messages and looking for the perfect stroller to take with us on our trip (we leave in less than a month!). I was really interested in the Volo after reading your comments. Anyway, we just happened to be at Toys R Us today and they had one left on clearance! $59.90! I was thrilled! So, if any of you are still considering the Volo, check to see if Toys R Us has any on clearance. Thanks for all of your help.

Jodi

RazorBackDisneyFan, When you ordered your micro from littlefolks, did they send you an e-mail letting you know that it shipped? I got a e-mail from them confirming my order, but nothing about it shipping? Just curious thanks for any info.

Yes, I did get an email with a UPS tracking #. It came from a 3rd party source though. I think it was "quantum" something or the other. My stroller arrived on schedule and I really like it!!! I haven't had the chance to use it much...just got it Fri. evening about 6. It should be a great WDW stroller. HTH
