Stroller recommendations for 7 year old and 1 year old

I would get a double stroller delivered to your resort. We did that and it worked out perfect. If you know your dd tires easily and having a stroller for her will help, get it. Don't listen
to people who say she doesn't need a stroller. It's none of their business. PS the strollers you can rent at Disney are hard and not comfortable to sleep in. Don't recommend those.

My 7 year old niece walked the parks last summer, no problem. I would be embarrassed to have a 7 year old in a stroller. If they tire easy, spend some time conditioning them. Go on walks, play tag, get some exercise. If they are in the parks are start to wear o it, take a break. Get a mickey bar and sit on a bench and talk about your day.

If your kid doesn't use a stroller in regular life, they don't need one for disneyworld

I really wish people wouldn't be do darn judgemental. You have no idea if her child has any medical problems or not. My son needed one at that age due to a neurological disorder. So no I wasn't embarrassed at all. But I am embarrassed for judgemental people such as you.

I bought my daughter a double city mini! She loves it. What makes it so great is it can hold an older child and is much easier to let up and down.

My son didn't need one in regular life either but we felt we needed it at DW so we could all enjoy the parks without having to keep finding a spot to rest as we have 3 other children and having to keep resting wouldn't really be fair to them. As he would need to stop and rest almost hourly. And how to you know if a child needs it or not to judge? By looking at him you wouldn't know he had NF1 and low muscle tone due to it. She says her child tires easily. She didn't say why so you have no idea. It's not your place to judge what works for her family. You worry about your family and she will do what's best for hers.

Some people may need a stroller. Some people may want a stroller. There's nothing to "get" really. You already mentioned you would be embarrassed by it. So obviously you wouldn't use one for an older child. Others wouldn't be embarrassed by it.

OP, do what is right for your family.

We just came back from our January trip. We had 4 kids ages 7, 5, 3, and 1. I rented the city mini double stroller from Orlando Strollers for 10 nights. Cost about $125 including insurance. It pushes like a dream, has a parent console, both seats recline fully and have individual sun shades, and folds easily for the buses. Love that stroller! Personally I wouldn't rent a park stroller especially for a 1 year old who will take naps in it most likely. They are hard plastic and the shade is not very big. Also, the cost for the stroller in the park is more than renting one from an offsite vendor that will deliver to your room. This way you have the stroller at your resort too. My 7 year old son used the stroller several times for a resting place as he's a fit kid but the walking was a lot. Hope that helps.

That's a pretty good price for 10 nights! Definitely will look into that I'm leaning towards a single stroller and a baby carrier but not ruling out the double just yet! Yeah the park strollers look very uncomfortable and there is only a lap belt and I would want my 1 year old in a 5 point harness so hes not sliding around when he falls asleep. Yes I definitely want to have a stroller at the resort too especially at the end of the day when we have to get off the bus and walk back to the room.

You've already made your opinion clear but this is HER child, her choice. Only she knows how her 7 year old will do walking around that much. No need to continue expressing your opinion.

I think it is pretty rude to insist that the way you and your family tours the park is the right way. And that people who use strollers longer than you do are doing something wrong. Some families are ok taking breaks, or going back to the resort. Some are not. Neither style of touring the parks is wrong, and you seem to be posting as if your way is the right way and everyone else is wrong.

Which is odd to begin with, on a thread asking for stroller recommendations. And not one asking if they should use a stroller or not.

For what it is worth, I would rent a double stroller in the parks. They are very easy to push. I would be careful if you decide to bring any umbrella stroller. Make sure you have one that is comfortable to push all day, and that the handles are the proper height. You don't want one that you have to hunch at all to push, as your back will be killing you at the end of the day.

Yes very true, so many of the umbrella strollers have very short handles and its quite uncomfortable even on a regular day pushing them around
