Stroller questions....................

I was wondering if you guys rent strollers or bring your own? Traveling with my 3yo nephew, and want to do the easiest thing..........I think my sis is planning to bring her own, but we always rented when our kids were younger. It's such a pain to cart it on and off the busses.

You don't mention if you are driving or flying...but, if you are flying I would definetly recommend taking your own. You can gate check them before you board and in the airport they are priceless. Also we found having your own useful when going in and out of parks to your transportation. By the end of the day a 3 yo is going to be pretty tired..it is also nice to have some "help" in lugging your stuff that you bring to and from the parks (ie diaper bags, souveniers, etc). Some people swear by renting them, but IMO I wouldn't go there without my own. I would recommend a light weight easy to fold stroller if you will be using the disney transportation.

My dd is only 1 but we brought our own stroller to WDW and we flew. We bought a Graco CitiLite stroller (pictured below) and it folded up pretty flat and was lightweight. We had no trouble with in on the trams or monorail. We stayed on site, but used our rental car to get to the parks.

Thank you for the info. I have passed it on to my sister, and she has decided to do the rental while in the parks.
We are driving down and towing our RVs, so her own stroller will be great for the campground, and Downtown Disney.
He will not be in the stroller much, as he is happy to follow my 9yo son around all day! Thanks again.................

and it was the first time we rented strollers. A couple of things to think about, before deciding whether or not to bring your own:

(1) If you think the child might nap in the stroller, bring one from home. The ones in the park are hard plastic and not comfortable at all for tired out little ones.

(2) Do you still carry a diaper bag or back pack with him? Or, do you plan on bringing jackets, buying a few souvenirs, etc? There is absolutely no storage at all on the rental strollers. Even though my son is 4, I still carry a small back pack, and he had to sit with his feet up in the air on it when I got tired of carrying it. We tried on another stroller to hang a not too heavy diaper bag on the handles of the rental stroller with the 1 year old, and it tipped over backwards.

If it is not too much hassle, I would strongly recommend bringing one from home. We did, until this year, and I kinda wish I had brought it anyway!

We just returned from WDW and rented a stroller the whole trip. It was great because I didn't have to take it on and off buses or the monorail. We rented a double so my 6 yo could sit when tired. I found there to be plenty of storage. There are pockets on the back perfect for water bottles and maps and a wider pocket good for autograph books and souvenirs. I put my back pack on top of the stroller a lot of the day.
The strollers at MGM are another story. They tipped fairly easily. They were more like jogging strollers, which was great for keeping the kids apart, but not so great for storage.
Both my boys napped in the stroller too. Also, if you buy a muti-day stroller pass, you get a discount. A 3 day pass for a double stoller was $40 (they are 15$/day w/o the pass). These are good for all the parks, so if you go to MGM and then MK you use the same pass. This also lets you bypass the line for paying since you only stand in line to pay once!! This saves time!

I think i am planning on bringing my own jogging stroller to use in WDW and would have to bring it on the plane since we are flying.... is it better to check it with the baggage or gate check it....i dont NEED to gate check it, but wonder if this is the better thing to do.... i guess i'm worried that it may get damaged... how do you transport the strollers...this one is a fairly large heavy jogging stroller...thanks

We also flew with a large double jogging stroller. ( swivle front wheel that does not have to be removed) I gate checked it, and we had no trouble at all. I was afraid it would get broken if I sent it with the baggage. I was happy we had it when we got to the Orlando airport! I was so happy to have my dd's in the stroller, you can walk faster and keep track of the kids better. I would gate check it if I were you, I don't think they would give you any trouble.
