I am debating what to do about strollers for our trip in April. DD will be 7 months and we will be picking up a lightweight stroller that will recline instead of using her travel system jogging stroller . When we went last April DD3 and DD5 rode in the double stroller we rented at the park (at the time they were 2 and 4). Is DD5 too old for a stroller? Instead of spending the $16 a day to rent, should I buy a double stroller that I won't use again? Any recommendations of what kind of strollers to buy?

5 isn't too young to ride a stroller at WDW. My 5yr gets slow tired and whiny to ride. :confused3 We got her a Buggy Board for her to ride. It attaches to the back of a stroller. Or there are single strollers that have a stand built on the back. But I would avoid the purchase of a double unless you will use it more than the one trip.

My 5 year old doesn't normally ride in a stroller but I think for WDW it is a must. I bought a Graco side by side for 47 at a resale shop. I would buy instead of rent.

definitely get stroller for 5-yo. We went to MK when my DS was 8 and when he knew his 5-yo sister was getting a stroller, he asked if he could use it too. All that walking is tiring !

My kids are now 5 and going to be 4. They use a stroller at WDW. When we go with my freinds kids they rent a stroller and their son is now 6. I took the 4 kids to SW by myself and that was the only day i didnt have any of them ride in the stroller. They were fighting over it. I acouldnt have all 4 of them in one stroller so i told them the bag was riding and they were all walking. It is a lot of walking.

If you can get a cheap double do it.$16 a day for 5 days is aleady $80. It could be even more if you are there for 7 days.

Our kids did fine with out the stroller at 5. We did rent a double one day toward the end of the trip. I think it depends on the time of the year and how hot it will be.

We spent $65 on a Jeep double stroller. The seats recline and they have sun shades. Light weight and compact. It worked well for us. I used it in the airport too.

I would think your 5 yr old will definately want a stroller at some point. Our DD just turned 7 our last trip and she sat in her Maclaren Volo quite OFTEN. She walked some, but she was way less tired with the stroller. Even slept in it a couple of times on those late nights. She doesnt use it at home, but at Disney-YES!!

My son is 6 and very tall for his age and we rented him a stroller. It was well worth it! My other son is almost 3 and we brought his, but for my 6 year old we rented. With the amount of walking you do a day it is well worth it! ::yes::

My DD will be 5 (april baby) when we go this June. We recently did a 1 day trip to AK only. I took her umbrella and she didn't sit in it once. So here I was pushing around an empty umbrella stroller all day.

I'm planning on doing a break everyday after lunch (the bennie of a June trip).. so will I need a stroller? I'm just dreading pusing an empty stroller around. Then again, with an entire week at the park.. she might need the stroller.. I'm perplexed!

We were there over T'giving with DD4 and DD8 and rented a double stroller for every day except the first (only there from 4pm on). Neither of my kids sit in a stroller at home, but DD4 tires pretty easily, so I knew I'd need at least the single. Having the double meant that DD8 could sit and chit-chat and keep DD4 company in the stroller sometimes, plus the other half was a great place for bags, jackets, etc when one or both were out of it. Only drawback was that DD4 fell asleep in the stroller every night but one and was 38 lbs. of dead weight to carry to the bus depot and then back to the resort room.

Thats why I like having my own stroller. Those sleeping kids at night are VERY heavy. Our DD fell asleep in hers a few times. We had long lines to wait in at the bus stop for POP (another story!!) and DD just slept in the stroller until we had a bus to board. That way, DH picked up DD and I got the stroller and took it on. Easy. I dont mind pushing an empty stroller at the parks. It is very good for holding everything else we dont want to carry- backpack, water, maps, etc.
