Stroller question.

When I go to Disney next my DS will be 14 months old. I will be staying at the music resort, this is the first time we have not had a car. The strollers at the parks look way to uncomfortable for a little one. My question is having to take a bus, would bringing a jogging stoller be too much? I was thinking of bringing my jogging stroller b/c it has a lot of storage space and it is really comfortable. Anyone have any ideas?

We took my DGD full size evenflow stroller in Sept on the bus etc. As long as you can pick it up etc and carry onto the bus, you shouldn't have a problem. :sunny:

I would take a stroller that folded up. When I went in December a woman was really upset with a bus driver because the bus was full and she had a jogging stroller that didn't fold up and he suggested that she wait for the next bus. It wasn't a pretty scene.

Other than the busses - there are a few other transportation means (WDW train, parking lot trams, etc.) that require you to fold up your stroller. We had a double wide stroller that took a while to get the hang of folding it quickly and were embarrassed a couple times when we struggled to get everything out of it and fold it up. By the end of the trip I had it down fairly well, but it did take up quite a bit of space and it isn't the lightest stroller in the world. So trying to juggle (with my wife's help of course) both kids - sometimes sleeping kids, the bags and stroller wasn't always the most convenient...

So I guess my point is - the lighter and smaller the stroller - the easier time you are going to have with transportation...

That said - the double wide stroller was a life saver, and I wouldn't have had it any other way... Yes, the never ending stroller battles...

I'd go for something that folds up nice and small, the busses get crowded and the less you have to handle the better. We've used the Jeep umbrella strollers for our last few trips, they work great. Have a canopy for the sun and fold up small for the bus ride.

Suggestion: If you are staying at ASMusic and are bringing your own stroller, try walking over to ASSports to catch the bus. Its really not that far away.

The busses stop at ASSports first, thus there is a lot of room to settle in with a folded up stroller in an empty bus. By the time the bus gets to ASMusic, most seats may be taken.

We bring a double stroller(side by side) and have had no problems. Just make sure it is easy to fold. We usually let the kids stay in it until the last minute so they aren't floating around while waiting. So we are now experts at the quick close.

I don't think the strollers in the parks are that bad. They are long and have a lot of leg room for your DSG to stretch out and rest or sleep. It's easier to rest or sleep while laying in a stroller versus sitting in my opinion. Plus the park strollers have better shade from the sun.

I personally feel the park strollers; albeit expensive, do have their advantages.

We just got ours for our most recent vacation (May) and on the very first time we tried to use it we had a major breakdown. :rotfl2: I can look back on it and laugh now, but at the time I was pretty miffed. We were leaving the Magic Kingdom and it was the last call for the tram back to the parking lot. So we ran to get on and my wife and I grabbed the kids (both were sleeping), laid them on the tram seats, and I continued to attempt to fold the stoller. Well I didn't realize it at the time, but there was an autograph book sitting in one of the baskets, and the way our stroller folds - there can't be ANYthing in the basket in order for it to close. So here I am struggling, sweating, face turning red - trying to get the darn thing closed and couldn't do it. So I shouted out to my wife "you go ahead and I'll meet you back at the car". She shouted back "I don't know where I'm going!". So I helped her and the sleeping kids get off the tram so the people didn't have to wait for us. You can bet that I was EXTRA careful the rest of the trip to make sure nothing was in the baskets before attempting to fold the stroller.

What an embarrassing moment... Other than that one instance though, everything was fine... :) Oh... and the autograph book was destroyed.

I bought a new lightweight stroller for our trip last October that folded quickly and easily. It was over $100 but definitely worth it both when using Disney transportation and in the airport.

You definitely need to be able to fold the stroller to use the buses. I was never allowed to bring my daughter on the bus in the stroller. So lightweight strollers are a plus when dragging a stroller, a kid or two, maybe some bags onto crowded buses.

ok so a compact stoller is a better idea, anyone know where i can get a compact stroller that can lay down for my son as I will not be able to convince my husband that park strollers are better and I want my son to be able to lay down and sleep.

Non-stroller folks on the buses do tend to get a touch annoyed with the larger strollers. They take up a lot of room in the aisle and leave little room for ppl to get by them.

We take two small strollers for out girls and we would not have it any other way. One is a combi the other a Maclaren. They fold as small as an umbrella stroller but are durable and very comfortable. In fact they are some of the best strollers I have ever owned. I just took them apart and washed the seat covers and scotch guarded them because they will be in great use again for this trip on Tuesday. I prefer the Maclaren as I can fold it with one arm tied behind my back. Oh and they both come with a strap attached to carry them over your shoulder which is very handy when juggling sleeping children.

I bought a Maclaren Quest for my dd's first trip last year, when she just turned a year old. Let me tell you, it was a LIFE SAVER! I used it again for this trip, and couldn't imagine life without it. It folds like an umbrella stroller, but has a shade, small basket, leg rest that you can extend for your child, and it reclines for sleeping. My dd has loved hers. Each year Maclaren changes the patterns of their strollers, so they have yearly "models", but you can go online and fine last years "models" for significantly cheaper than you can this years. That's what I did on ebay. I talked a friend of mine on here into getting one and she didn't listen to me for her first trip to WDW and tried to bring a full size stroller, and recently just told me that she bought a Maclaren for her dd and loves it! :teeth:

Definately something smaller and more compact. Those buses stay packed and you definately dont want to be the reason someone had to wait for the next bus.

After two DW visits of struggling on and off buses with a bulky stroller this past trip I bought a lightweight compact stroller- Mac Volo, it was worth every penny and with the weight limit being 55 lbs (high for most strollers), it will last many more trips.

I just got a Maclaren Triumph 2006 for my upcoming trip and I think it will work great. It's really lightweight and reclines, although not to a flat position. For extra shade you can buy the shade for the sun that attaches.

I have a Combi that is fabulous for quick folder etc. but doesn't lay flat. My sister bought a Graco lightweight at Target or Babies R US that lays flat for her sleeping son that she really likes. Has a large basket, easy to fold and cost her less than $100. The quick folding is so convenient and easy on the buses. You also have a place for your child to wait if the park isn't open and you don't have to wait in the rent stroller lines.

How much does a single stroller cost? Do they still do the length of stay rate. We've never been, how does this all work?
