Stroller or wagon?

DD will be turning 4 on our trip. I was planning on getting a cheap umbrella stroller for her in case she gets tired. Would a wagon be better for somebody her age?

Wagon's aren't allowed in the parks because anything that you pull behind you could be a tripping hazzard. In all our trips to the world we've never seen a wagon in the parks so I would just skip bringing it.

The umbrella stroller would work, but the park rental strollers might be more comfortable for her. IMO they are pretty expensive to rent though (depending on how many days you're going for of course).

Another option might to be renting from www.abbf.com They have a decent looking jogger that might fit your needs, you get to keep it outside the park, and it's probably less expensive than renting the park stroller.

You aren't allowed to take a wagon into the parks and in my experience the cheap umbrella strollers don't really work for an older child. Unless your dd is pretty small for her age she will be pretty squished in there. We bought a maclaren volo on ebay for about $80 and it was the best investment I could have made for our trip. I know it's pricey, but I looked everywhere and it really was the only stroller that worked with a bigger kid.

I don't think wagons are allowed in the parks for safety reasons. You cannot bring anything that requires it to be pulled behind you. I think an umbrella stroller would be more comfortable anyway.

Well, I had no idea wagons weren't allowed. So I guess that settles that! I really don't want to spend $$$ on a stroller because it would be just for Disney - she doesn't ride in strollers anymore. Renting one might be a good idea. I'll check out those links. DD is on the small side (36 inches and 28 pounds at three years old).

I've posted it before, and I'll post it again: There is an alternative to the $$$ Maclaren for older kids. It is made by Avalon, a Canadian company, and I found it at Baby Depot (in Burlington Coat Factory). It reclines, steers very easily (almost as well as the Mac--I tested them ALL out with DD in them at Babies R US!), is tall enough that my 6'2" DH doesn't kick the wheels when pushing it, has a canopy, and has a weight limit of 45 pounds. My 4 y/o DD (she's 42" tall and weighs 41 lbs) fit in it very comfortably. It's only $29. If you don't have a Burlington Coat Factory near you, you can buy it from them online:

I don't know why NOBODY on these boards listens to my posts about this wonderful stroller! I guess everyone WANTS to pay $100 or more for a Mac--probably just because they come in cute fabrics. Me, I say save my money, I'll go for the budget find that works just as well but may not be as pretty.

That's a cute stroller! I'm bookmarking it. Since were only buying a stroller for this trip (we don't use one anymore otherwise), I'd like to be economical.

Disnae- how much weight does it hold? My 6yo is on the petite side and the idea of buying a $29 stroller vs $10/ day rental sounds good.

finastic- My biggest suggestion is that whatever you choose, make sure your DD can sleep in it. My husband and I had a lot of fun "TOGETHER" after the sun went down with our DD sound asleep in her stroller! If she is comfortable in the umbrella stroller then more power to you, otherwise, if I were you, I'd keep looking.

WE have a similar issue... Our DD is almost 4 and we have a 3 month old. DD can't sleep in our Sit N Stand, but I don't think the baby's pumkin seat will fit in the rental srtoller...

Here is a unknown trick about weight limits on strollers, they are tested with the double limit of the weight indicated on the stroller (at least in Canada) and it most hold it so if a stroller indicate a 45lbs limit, it can hold up to 90lb with no problems unless they are not approved (cheap unbrella strollers for exemple sometimes don't have the approval tags on them)

The little booklet that came with my stroller says it can hold up to 45 pounds. My DD fits quite comfortably in it, and she is tall for her age.

That only means that it won't collapse under the weight; it doesn't guarantee that the wheels will still turn. When you seriously overload a stroller (I'd say by more than about 10% of the recommended limit) you put a LOT of strain on the suspension, and on your back, trying to push it when the wheels won't freely turn.

Lots of Avalons here as they are made here in Canada, but they are not the same quality as Macs - much more differences than just coloured fabrics. Not trying to cause a problem, but I don't want someone to think that the $29.00 stroller is the same as any $100.00 + Mac strollers - although this stroller may be close, it is not a direct substitute for any Macs (the 10lb. weight difference is a big difference). They have some similarities, but the quality of the Avalons are not the same as Macs.
