Hi! Never been to DL just WDW. My girls will be turning 6 and 7 should I rent them one of those double strollers? Went to WDW last year and used our own umbrella strollers and I would say they needed them. Also does anyone know how much the rental fee is DL?
Thanks

They only have single strollers and they cost $15. If you have a Disney Visa you get 50% off. For us, my oldest stopped using a stroller when she turned 5, but I think that just depends on your kids. :goodvibes

My kids are 11, 8 and 5. I thought this year would be our first year with out a stroller since I don't own one anymore. However, I am considering getting one for my 5 year old. Since it's winter he isn't getting much exercise so I don't think he will physically be able to "go the distance".

I have a 4 and 6 year old and do worry about their stamina. What do people do with the strollers when they go on rides? Are the strollers themselves pretty safe? (since all money, tickets, etc, will be on my person). Is it better to bring your own stroller or rent a disney one?

Good idea. My kids are very active and they still needed a break. I didn't plan on using it for the 5 and 7 year old, just the baby. Turned out had to wear the baby most of the time because 5 year old did need it. Especially later in the day. 7 year old was hurting too, he didn't get to use it that much but sure did want to. This year I will be bringing the double in case the younger boy gets tired he can sit with the baby.

Not to answer as a moderator, but as a nurse concerned with public health.....it would alarm me that a child over the age of 5, with no special health issues, could not walk a typical DL day. Maybe use your trip as an excuse for family weekend walks? I know we did with my DD. Of course I admit I am hardcore when it comes to health issues.

I don't think my 4 year old couldn't walk all day long, but she would slow us down and she would complain after walking for 15 hours, I even hate walking that much! I am sure when she is 5 or 6 she will still want a stroller at DL, because that is a LOT of walking for a child to do.

As for the OP, if they can still fit in umbrella strollers and you think they will use them, bring them. It is nice to store stuff on and for the walk back to the hotel at night.

There is always some place to leave your stroller near the ride. We have never had anyone take our stroller, but we never leave anything of value in them. Just a tip, take some ribbon to tie around the handle if you rent one, it makes it a lot easier to spot your stroller in the sea of rentals. :goodvibes

I agree with the previous poster. My kids can and have done the continous walking. A lot of the time we leave the stroller in the hotel room. I then start wishing I had it to put stuff in. Also it is great to have somewhere for the younger ones to sit and rest when waiting for a parade or when they are to tired to hang in there at DTD in the evening time.

I'd bring an umbrella stroller from home and let them take turns. If they both need 1 you could rent 1 or just bring 2 from home, leave 1 in the hotel room the 1st day if you wanted to. My DD hasn't used a stroller outside of Disney for several years but she does use one at Disney (except for our 2 (short *CM party nights) day trip last month) ~ I'm very glad we had it for WDW last Oct. ~ DD's Disney stroller is a Mac Volo. DS has never used a stroller @ Disney, his 1st trip was just before his 6th B~day, he did doze in DD's stroller during a late Fantasmic performance.

We are bringing our double for the 5 year old and b/c the other 7 of us will have a lot of stuff we can store extra coats, food, Night spinners, etc. in it. It has saved us with the spring weather when it can rain or get quite cold by evening.

BTW we have had an object stolen from our stroller a new raincoat of DD 10 when she was 7. So we are very careful about what we leave in there.

DBFF bought the girls a princess balloon early in the day 2 years ago and we tied it to the stroller. It was great for finding the stroller but made it a little challenging to get through the park.

The balloon had another perk though. A CM saw it and came over and dreamed us with a private meet and greet with 3 princesses.

Well...I guess this is a case of personal preference.
My DS was out of a stroller at 2.5....but we brought one to DL at 3.5 bc I felt it would be easier. In the long run it was because we stayed all day w/ no breaks so it did conserve some energy. We'd park our stroller & he'd walk each land but on long distance he was sitting.

However at 5 he's expected to walk. If he can walk all day on a day trip or something I'm assuming he can walk DL. Where there's trains to sit, monorail to sit & even rides to sit. As long as he gets his protein in, the boy can go all day.

Which is good for me because I like it when he goes right to sleep at night! :thumbsup2

"Maybe use your trip as an excuse for family weekend walks? I know we did with my DD." I really like this idea. It will be beneficial for the entire family, and it's for a good cause.....DL!!

We have never had problems w/ people taking strollers at DL in the past. I remember my husband being concerned on our first trip, but we got comfortable right away. I'm a little apprehensive about taking our MacLaren this time around, but I'll probably take the chance.

I recommend taking one, single-stroller, and letting your two kids take turns in it. Of course the storage baskets underneath are the main perk to bringing strollers along.
