Stroller or no Stroller

My son is 2 and my daughter is 5 and we are heading to DW in Dec, I am not sure if we should bring a stroller or not. My son does like to walk a lot so I am sure we would even use it that much. But then again if he gets tired I am not so sure I want to carry 32 pounds around. What would you all do?

BRING A STROLLER!!!!!!! When we went 2 years ago, my son was 4 and wasn't in a stroller anymore. He was miserable from all the walking! He was so bad, he didn't want to go to any parks after the first day we spent at MK! He ended up being a trooper and pushing through it! I was thankful for the day we went to Hollywood Studios. After fantasmic, a CM was giving parents strollers for their kids on the walk back to the exit gates! Boy were we grateful!
Definitly bring one. You WILL use it. A lot.

I must say you have convinced me to bring one. I hate all the strollers we have(we have 3). I am now going to be searching for which one to buy. Thanks for your insight.

Yeah, we aren't talking like walking the mall. This is like 10-15 MILES of walking.. bring the stroller - or rent one there. You will be grateful. We make sure all of our children have a place to sit and ride in the parks - even our 5 yr old because after about 6-7 miles, they are just too tired and walking back to the monorail is a PITA carrying kids and bags!

The rental ones are really nice and I love that I'm not worrying the entire time about my stroller being stolen. Its extremely rare that a stroller is stolen but still, Im a worry wart. I like the rentals too since they are new and fun so my kids sqeaul the entire time in them LOL. They just arent the same strollers that they have at home.

WE just got back. My 5 year old hasn't used a stroller for years, but on the advice of people here I purchased the Maclaren Volo.

The original plan was for us to use it just for evenings, when she would be most tired. Yeah, right!!! We used it every single day, every time we went to a park. We walked miles every day, and her legs are small so it was a LOT of steps.

Plus, in December, I'm guessing you'll have some sweatshirts and stuff, just in case. The stroller will be a HUGE help!!

Just a hint: bring an extra poncho to use for the stroller. I'm not sure how much it rains in December, but it was incredibly valuable in August, even before the tropical storm. We used an orange one, and could always spot our stroller

I totally agree with you on the maclaren volo stroller. I bought mine a month ago and i love it! Its so compact! Mine doesn't recline but thats ok. my son wont fall asleep in the stroller anyway! he loves to be up and looking at the world!(he is 1) I can't wait to use it at disney next year. Even though its a little pricey, it was money well spent!!! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stroller. It has the convience of a storage pocket like the big bulky strollers and the compact size of an umbrella stroller! It is the best!!!

Kira did a LOT of sleeping in that stroller, reclining or not.

My niece has a disabled 2 year old, and at some point will need a stroller intended for a slightly older child, so she'll be getting our Volo the next time I see her.

If you don't want to purchase another stroller or pay the outrageous rental fees look on the Budget Board at doing a stroller swap.

There are, I think, about 8 going right now. For $10-$15 you can "rent" a stroller for your length of stay.

Most of them are side by side double jogger style. There is a sticky with some listed and about 3 more on the boards.

They are usually based at a resort and you need to pick it up and return it at that resort. Thank goodness for Disney Transportation!!

Just something to think about.

I have a 52lb DD4 (she's 44 inches tall). So her crashing out at the park is scary. I have a herniated disk. UGH! I am in pain just thinking about carrying her any distance.

I think my plan is to see what happens then buy a two day rental if the walking gets to be too much on day one.

I used rental strollers for her @ WDW on her second birthday and when she was 2.5. But we only had one kid.

My cousin brought a stroller and also rented a stroller for her two and five year olds. It worked for them

That is a really good price on that web site. The other place I saw it was $109. Now I am deciding do I need a 2 child stroller bc I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old or just go with the 1 child stroller and see how my 5 year old. Worse case I could always rent which was mentioned. I do have the Baby Trend stroller where you can sit or stand in the back but I can not stand it........hence asking for ideas on a new stroller.

Would you consider a pair? Or carrying the 2 year old when the 5 year old has had enough?

I have to be honest: one EMH night we stayed at Epcot with friends until WAY too late--most of the countries had closed down. Both my girls were totally wiped out. We put my 8 year old into the stroller and carried the 5 year old (Then slept in the next day.)

I did think about just carrying the 2 year of my 5 year old was tired. I would be very surprised if she said she was tired bc I swear she is the energizer bunny. I am going to get the Maclaren. Is the Maclaren Volo the best choice?

I'm no expert, since it was the only one I tried and it's been years since we used any other.

But my 10 year old son did almost all the pushing-- he loved it for some reason.

And how funny-- that's exactly the name we give to our 5 year old!!

Wow, if you go that whole time without a stroller for either of your children, you should be awarded a medal. We're going in less than a week, and I bought a sit n stand just for this trip. I have a 17 month old and 6 year old. I know my 6 year old won't use it often, but I'm sure there are time, especially at closing where he'll still use it. We went when my DS was 3 turning 4 and he used it every day, and that was in Jan. without the hot weather and with shorter hours. If you think you guys can do it, then more power to you, but I would never imagine being able to do Disney with a 2 and 5 year old without a stroller. Good luck!

I am going to get a new stroller. I have the sit and stand that I bought last year for our trip in Aug but it was such a pain to close..................never closed the same way. And then with the buses...........that is a story in itself.
