We will be returning to WDW next March with a 6 year old, 3 1/2 year old, and 9 1/2 month old. I'm planning on a double stroller for baby and the older two to share as needed.

Do you think I need a backpack or other type carrier for baby??? Or will stroller suffice??

Any other tips for travel with 3 little ones??

The older 2 went last summer at age 4 and 2--it was wonderful!!!! We had a trip scheduled for this June until we discovered baby is coming in May, so we are postponing until next spring.

TIA!

If you have a comfy backpack carrier, bring it! That way, if the two oldest ones tire at the same time, they can ride in the double stroller, and the little one can be on your back. Can the baby see over your shoulder? That would be a great place to be to watch the parades as well!

I'd advise against bringing a backpack. They tend to be bulky, so it will be a burden when you are not using it, and you'll have to take it off for rides or attractions.

I would strongly recommend a sling or pouch carrier. We go to WDW at least once a month with our 3 1/2 yo DS and 14 month old DD. We bring a single stroller and the sling, which works out great for us. A great advantage of the sling/pouch is that it keeps the baby snug while on rides.

Here is a link to a picture of DD in the sling last Thanksgiving, when she was almost 10 months old. http://community.webshots.com/photo/103732607/103734558nQrKEi

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of a sling at that age. It is hard to plan I guess when the baby is currently in utero and I have no idea how big she will be next March.

I do think my oldest will still need "breaks" in the stroller, but I hate to lug around a double and a single!!!

Thanks for the input!!

A sling won't be much to carry around. They fold up pretty small, especially if you get one without much padding. I would definitely recommend getting this one used to a sling as soon as s/he's born. It will help you at WDW and just in general.

All I remember about using slings is that they're hot, they get in the way of arm movements, and my DDs kept headbutting me under the chin! OTOH, I loved our backpack because it could be propped up with them in it, and they could rest between my legs while we watched a parade. The backpack we had also folded up nice and flat, and could be strapped to a stroller.

We are going to WDW May 1st with our soon to be 12 month old son. He's about 18 lbs now and quite wiggly . He also gets tired of the stroller after sitting in it a while. I'm bringing a pouch sling to carry him in when he wants to be held, that way, my back (hopefully) won't be killing me after a long day in the parks, and he won't be able to wiggle out of my arms so easily.

Hope you all have a magical trip and congrats on the new baby!

I just want to add that the MayaWrap type slings are not hot. I live in FL and use mine all the time. They are very popular with the moms around here. I even used it in the Bahamas last July. It shouldn't be a problem at all, especially in March.

They are also great for toddlers. DD is over 20 pounds, and I can comfortably carry her for hours. Another plus is that you can use it as a light blanket.

If you decide to get one, be sure to watch the video/dvd that comes with it so you know how to use it properly. I didn't like the sling at first because I wasn't using it correctly. Watching the dvd made a world of difference.

My only regret is that I didn't get it sooner (I bought mine when DD was 5 months old. I really wish I had it when she was a newborn!)

Congratulations and happy planning!

we used our babybjorn carrier for our son at 11 and 18mos in the parks. They are great for standing in line and going places like shows where you cant bring the stroller.

You might be surprised and not needing a stroller for your oldest. We went when my DD was 6 and our twin DS were 2. We used 2 umbrella strollers for the boys and our daughter was fine with out. She really liked the "mountain" rides - Space, Splash, Big Thunder. We told her that if she wanted to ride the "big kid " rides, then she needed to walk like a big kid. It worked great - no complaints. We went in Feb and stayed on-site. We went back to the room every day to swim and rest. When the kids got cranky, we headed back to the room.

This Jan. we were there and the boys had just turned 6. We made it stroller-free! YEH!!! This trip we were at the parks all day because the weather was too cool to swim much. The boys did a great job of walking.

I just recently purchased the Ultra EZ carrier from onestepahead.
It is very easy to use and put the child in by yourself. It also allows the child to rest on your hip instead of right in front of you. Not to mention that it is so compact and folds in to its own pocket. I can see using this in lines at Disney and just leaving it on and wearing it like a crossing gaurd belt thingy when she isn't in it for short periods of time.
My 11 month old girl loves being carried around in it. She is at that stage where she wants down to crawl around all the time and doesn't really like to be held. But for some reason she likes being carried in this!
Here is the link for it.

I had one very simular to the One Step Ahead one when I went with my 3 kids-DD(4), DS(3), DD(11 1/2 months). I was VERY glad I had it and there is no way she would have fit in the Baby Bjorn. She did nap in it a few times when both kids needed to ride in the double stroller. And it was great for lines and some rides.
