Stroller on the buses?

Prohibited practices

§392.62 Safe operation, buses.
No person shall drive a bus and a motor carrier shall not require or permit a person to drive a bus unless—

(a) All standees on the bus are rearward of the standee line or other means prescribed in §393.90 of this subchapter;

(b) All aisle seats in the bus conform to the requirements of §393.91 of this subchapter; and

(c) Baggage or freight on the bus is stowed and secured in a manner which assures—

(c)(1) Unrestricted freedom of movement to the driver and his proper operation of the bus;

(c)(2) Unobstructed access to all exits by any occupant of the bus; and

(c)(3) Protection of occupants of the bus against injury resulting from the falling or displacement of articles transported in the bus.

Doesn't specifically say strollers which is why I can see some places using their own guidelines to address the issue.

LOL, yesterday I went over and took a picture of the sign posted on a bus, so I could look up the reg. You beat me to it.

I kinda have an advantage, or disadvantage, depending on how you look at it. I'm required to look at it twice a day. It doesn't mean I read it but I do see it.

We have a city mini and it folds like a dream. Actually, at the bus stops, many parents look at us in awe and say, "where did you get that?!" It's awesome for bus rides. I know the doubles fold the same way, but are just double the size. We will be getting one soon with #4 on the way and a DW trip planned for Nov. 2011.

The #1 thing, like pp posters said, is to make sure you have everything packed up, folded and ready *before* the bus arrives. If you have a small child, 2-3 or under, bring a front carrier(ergo, ect.) to move them into if they are asleep when you get on line for the bus. That way they stay asleep against you and you still have free arms and hands to help your other children or carry some bags while your DH/SO takes care of the stroller. There is NOTHING more annoying than waiting in line near the front...a bus pulls up...and you are stuck not being able to board the bus because goofy and his wife are just now packing up their things and taking the kids out of the stroller. Meanwhile, the bus driver is allowing others to board through the back of the bus and you are stuck waiting for the next one because it's full by the time you were able to board! GRRRRRRRR! to goofy and his wife!!!

We went last year with a double jogging stroller and it was the worst on the buses. In the park is was the greatest idea ever with the ease of use. However, with two children and a double stroller one parent is dedicated to the double stroller and the other has the two children on the bus ride. Then factor in the crowd on the bus and the other parents that have a big stroller and you can just imagine. I never had the first bad look although I was hating myself for the inconvience I was causing to others. If I was to do it all over I would have two umbrella strollers for the resort (and just in case) and then rent at the parks.

Drivers are not to open the rear doors for loading unless there is a ECV/WC or if the driver permits someone with a large stroller to enter. Other than that, the rear door is to be kept closed, especially at very busy times. I'm not aware of drivers allowing entry through the rear doors. If there is one thing we're strict about, it's that.

That's what I thought, but it happened. I think that in a large line, once a person is allowed to load with a big stroller, etc...people start piling in, if they can. It happened to us twice in October that people were boarding through the back of the bus.

so what should we do when you three are off not ride disney buses. They should put you three in charge of training of new drivers and retraining the rest.

The driver dose not want to hurt them so he or she just let them board then close the door. the drivers cant really see the back door in the seat so that why they dont allow it so they dont close the door on someone.

Mybe I spelled his name wrong I seen him post in the dissabilty form and he has a pic of a bus and once said he was a driver. I thought you knew him sorry I think you commented on not seeing him for awhile and him saying he been busy working three jobs. As requested:

DOT REGULATION 392.62 REQUIRES THAT ALL STROLLERS BE FOLDED AND CARRY ON ARTICLES BE SECURED KEEPING AISLES AND EXITS CLEAR.

There have been posts regarding entering through the rear door, there is also a sign prohibiting that near or on the rear door. Drivers or guests, may request, if you have an over size stroller, that you enter through the rear door.

Yeah I don't understand why risk getting the door closed on you just to get on first well it is Disney and they are trying to get to the park fast.
