stroller necessity?

I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old, about 100 lbs between the 2. (possibly a bit over)
My 5 year old is a super whiney walker, the 7 year old can be too, if hot and tired. I wanted to get a double stroller, (rent from outside the park dealer)but my husband feels like it would be a bulky hassle on the busses and in crowds. He wants to do a single with an attached glider board. I worry that it wouldnt be very restful, and could be hard to push. Any insights?

We last took a double stroller when mine were 3 and 5, and your DH is right, it is a pain! Depending on when your trip is, trying to maneuver a double in the crowds can be dangerous. With that said, how easily does a single with a glider board fold up? You will have to fold it up to get on the buses.

We were stroller-less on our last two trips and LOVED the freedom. My advice would be when they get whiny, you stop walking and take a break to smell the roses.

Others will disagree with me, so you should get views from both sides.

Disney stroller companies rent based on ranges of days. Last trip we had a single stroller for our daughter. Renting from an outside company was essentially the same prices as renting from Disney if we used on every day. The Disney rental was much more convenient. We just picket it up and dropped it going in or out of the park. Hopping was much easier. And I remember heading back to the resort when the park closes on that crowded bus with an umbrella stroller. I'm glad that's over. I've never had to do a double but it had to be worse.

Last time we went for a week, we rented from Orlando Stroller (the orange stroller company, lol) We got the double, my kids were 7 and 4. It was significantly cheaper than renting from Disney and it was at our hotel when we checked in. This stroller is super easy to transport, it collapses by pulling on a strap in the seat of the stroller.

In my humble opinion, the stroller was totally worth it. My kids rode in it from land to land, and those long stretches of walking-especially when leaving the parks. We would park the stroller is various spots and ride several things that were close together. We still took afternoon breaks too. No melt-downs, happy kids, happy parents.

I never found our strollers to be a hassle on the bus but then again we've never NOT had them. You might want to think about renting or brining two single strollers - I know it's more expensive but it would give them their own "space" if they need it like my boys do and they allow you to split up if you need to and can be easier to maneuver in the crowed. Just an idea

My son is 5 and weighs about 43 pounds and we are heading to Disney in November. My best friend and her family are joining us. They have a 6 year old and little girl turning 3 while at Disney and we discussed strollers but have decided to see how the 2 boys do without a stroller. We will have a stroller for the 3 year old that folds up but we will be going at the kids pace anyway so we don't think that we "need" a stroller for the boys. We may end up renting one at Epcot for the day because it is a lot of walking but we are doing the wait and see method.

We did pretty well without strollers for our then 6 yr old twins...but Epcot at night was a different story. It was a long day and we rented a stroller just to get their little legs thru the evening. They were so tired we received no complaints that they were "big kids" when we just said, sit and relax!

(Disney boards I know, but we did the same at Universal....back then they had way cool Back to the Future strollers.)

Well when we went with a 5 and 6 yr old we rented a double stroller from the parks. (One tiny kid, one huge one) It worked out great. They got to rest, snack, or drink while we pushed them thru the parks. At least once they even fell asleep in there.
