I've never had any issues with theft. I do leave the diaper bag on it, but nothing in it is actually valuable. My diaper bag also has stroller clips to hang it and while I put it in the basket, I do clip it to the bars underneath so at the very least someone can't just easily walk by and swipe it.
I have all uniquely colored strollers, so they're relatively easy to find, but I put Christmas lights on it for our December trip and loved how easy it was to find at night. I just bought some Lighntning McQueen lights that I found at the Target dollar spot that I'm planning on using next trip.
