I will be traveling to WDW in September with my new baby boy. He will be 4.5 months old. I know that we will have to park our stroller outside attractions. How does this work with the pavilions at Epcot? Will I be able to take the stroller in to the Land or the Seas? What if the baby is asleep (I know some restaurants will allow you to bring the stroller to your table if the baby is asleep)? I'm not into "baby-wearing" but should I consider purchasing a sling to wear? Any advice?

You will not be allowed to bring the stroller in either land. I have tried at both places when my twins have been sleeping and there was always someone at the door to stop me. I have brought my stroller in the gift shop area of the Sea, but that is as far as you can go. I do recall last fall a grandmother sitting on the bench as soon as you enter the Land with her grandson in an umbrella stroller, it was almost closing time and she was waiting for her family to ride Soarin, but they normally don't allow strollers. I guess it would be pretty chaotic with hundreds of strollers inside. ;)

On the other hand, I have always been allowed to bring my stroller in restaurants, even my double. (obviously not the restaurants located in the Land or Sea Pavilions).

HTH!

Hmmm......

Last year we were inside the Land for more than 2 hours. We got Soarin' fastpasses, ate at Sunshine Seasons, did stand-by for Soarin, got another Fastpass for Soarin, rode Soarin' again using Fastpass #1, rode Living with the Land and used Fastpass #2 later in the day. I'm thinking it may make sense to invest in a baby sling. Any other thoughts on ways to relieve your back and arms while carrying a baby for long periods of time?

This brings up another question: Are there any other buildings like this where you may spend a large amount of time, but not be able to bring in a stroller?

TIA!

They have places where you can park the stroller outside of the buildings you mentioned. They're not hard to find as there usually are a whole bunch of other strollers already there.

Some of the TS restaurants do NOT allow strollers in either. It depends on how busy and crowded it is, you can not COUNT on being able to bring the stroller in

I would get a baby carrier. You can find some very nice used ones at garage sales and Craig's List.

I used a carrier when my littlest one was a baby and it worked out very well for those areas where strollers cannot go. It was also nice to have on rides because you know your baby is secure. He had no problem sleeping in the carrier, he liked it better than the stroller.

Since you are going in Sep. with FD, the restaurants will be busy-I would not count on being able to bring strollers in.

We'll be bringing our main stroller with us that also doubles as a highchair so we're hoping that we can bring it in at least sometimes to restaurants.

Not to thread hijack, but we're a little wary of leaving it outside when we do rides. Would it be okay to lock it up? Lock the wheels together or something. We don't want our Stokke taking a ride without us lol

You can lock the wheels.YOu can NOT lock it to a fence, rail or anything else or Disney will cut the lock. The Cms need to be able to pick it up and move it.As for bringing in to dine, it doesn't matter if it turns into a high chair, they may still not allow it.Some of those restaurants you are literlly seated right next to the next table.

Wow, I had not even thought about this. Our DD will be 18 months when we go and is not one who can wander on her own without running off. I guess I may need to bring a carrier or baby harness type thing? what do most of you do? She's somewhat heavy but I do have an ergo carrier so it's not too uncomfortable. Although I am not sure she will like being "trapped" LOL

I'm thinking of bringing our Ergo too, but it'll be so hot! With all those cushioned straps, etc... Comfortable ride, yes. But oh so hot. I think I'll be a job for my husband ;)

Hey, Mzozzietj we're arriving on the same date! Both of our babies first trips :D

It is so hard with a 18 month old! We do have a harness that she likes for a while. The ride lines are the hardest. She doesn't want to stand still or be held. The things that we found that have worked are: 1. give her a small toy (or my pin lanyard to play with) 2. Give her a little snack or treat that takes a while to eat (dum dum sucker, bag of fruit snacks or grapes) 3. Download short videos on the phone or iPod for her to watch (or use youtube).

In the Land I have the harness (lots of people!). In the Seas we let her decided where she wants to go for a while. Run some energy off. Walk up the stairs, then down, then play in the shark place.

She is two now, but we still have to do the same things. Once she learned how to walk/run, that is how she is getting around. She only likes the stroller when it is moving! :lmao:

To OP, I think the carriers are great for all the line queues in all of the parks!

Up until my children were about 14 mths I wore them in the Baby Bjorn for the ride lines. Your arms can get really tired holding them in long lines and neither of my children were walking by then. I would definitely invest in a baby carrier for the lines and places line the Land and Seas as well as restaurants. Some restaurants let me bring my sleeping DS in the stroller; other said I had to take him out so it was fair to everyone. Definitely couldn't bring him in the Land. Some of the lines are 40 mins long so if you think you can't hold the baby that long definitely look into a baby carrier.

For those with older children; you can look into one of those folding backpacks.

Good luck and have fun.

We're leaving tomorrow with a 1yo and I just got the new Ergo Performance. It has CoolMax fabric and is much lighter than the traditional Ergo. But keep this is mind MANY of the places you'll be wearing the babe will be air conditioned. I'll have a detailed review and lots of information on my TR when I get back, but there's also a lot of info in the PTR link in my signature. It's my goal to try and give you all the info that I haven't been able to find! And stuff I have found too!

For a 4.5 month old, I would definitely get a sling or wrap or something, but make sure you are comfortable with it before you go. Babywearing is complicated, but WONDERFUL. You may be converted.

An Ergo or Beco or wrap will work for littles and toddlers too.

Bjorns not so much. I have both and hate the Bjorn. I know it's hard since they are so much easier to find, but if you can, definitely try a few things out before you buy.

Two-story pavilions with stairs/escalators as the primary method of going up/down, a single elevator intended to service guests in wheelchairs/ECVs, and hundreds of strollers don't mix... one factor has to give, they decided on the strollers.

The CM greeters at the entrance to the Land pavilion will permit strollers in if guests pledge to remain just inside the entrance rather than heading any further inside.

This is the experience I had in May w/ DS sleeping in his umbrella stroller. I was standing outside of the doors to the side (in the shade) while DD and DH went in and a CM offered me to come in if I stayed right at the top I gladly took her up on the offer and sat on the benches right inside the door while DS snoozed.

Hmmm. When we were there a few weeks there was no problem taking a stroller in the exit for the Seas. There were quite a few. You had to park them, though, if you wanted to ride the clam mobile.
