Any of you ever bring with you (on a plane or car) a stroller for a 5yr old to make it easier to get around a park?

My DD5 usually konks out about 2 hours into a park visit so obviously having one would make it easier to get around BUT I'm concerned about lugging the stroller all around the park when it's not being used and making sure it isn't stollen while on rides.

What do ya think?

Take it, tag it, use it!

If she needs it, she needs it.

And I'm not a stroller fan! *LOL*

Our kids aren't five yet. But we take 2 strollers. And we fly. We love having them at the parks and the resort. Take it.

Bring one or rent one your call

I'd just buy a cheapo ($20 - $30) umbrella stroller at Wal-Mart or a drug store or whatever. They sell umbrella strollers everywhere now. Even Disney sells one for around $40 if you don't want to bother leaving Disney property.

That way, you save the trouble of hauling your own, you save the rental fee and you don't have to worry about an expensive stroller being stolen. :)

But I don't know if a five year old would fit into them. My kids were no longer in stollers at that age. I'm thinking they probably wouldn't, but who knows?

Good luck!

We took a Maclaren Triumph for our 5 yr old. She sat in it a lot b/c of the heat just to get some shade, etc. Plus, if we were at the parks late, she would sometimes fall asleep on the bus ride back and we didn't want to carry a 45lb kid throughout the resort. It was the best decision we made. The Maclaren Triumph holds up to 55lbs so we will be bringing it this Sept too. I put a scarf on the handles so it is easily recognizable among the sea of strollers. We also put our name on the bottom in permanent marker. We've been there twice with it and no problems..............

Renting for us is not an option b/c we mostly need it for the long walks back to the bus stop and through the resort late at night.

I would bring it and just make sure you put something on it so noone would mistakingly take it.

Bring it! DS is 4 and we are bringing one. It's not like going to a mall or to the grocery store. Disney entails MILES of walking daily. Put something bright on it so you can identify yours in the sea of strollers outside attractions. I put the same thing on my luggage that I do on my stroller, a BRIGHT headband. One of those real thin ones. It's like 5 for a buck at the dollar store, and I never have trouble finding my luggage on the carousel or my stroller in the parks. :thumbsup2

Take it. DS 4.5 will have one next week when we go!

Our first trip as a kid, they didnt make the big kid strollers yet, and my brother was 6.5. He was SO TIRED and crabby, I remember my mom carrying him everywhere. I cant imagine having to carry a child that old around! TAKE THE STROLLER!

I forgot to add...we have 2 nice strollers and have never had one stolen. The CM's will sometimes move them, but we have never had someone steal them.

Absolutely! I still either bring a stroller or rent a stroller for my 7 year old. Sometimes it's just easier to sit him down after a long day and let him rest for a bit. Believe me if the other 2 boys could fit in those strollers they will join their brother (and have tried!).

Ummm if I could fit in one I would sit in it too! lol

Ah, yes your post and a couple others are exactly why I asked my question. Even though my daughter seems too big for a stoller (one reason why I was asking) it appears from your comments that we'd still be smart to bring one. My DD5 is pretty petite so fitting into a stroller won't be a problem and I know my wife doesn't want to carry her all around a park and I don't either especially after a few hours.

Thanks!

We had an expensive stroller for the little guy last December--no problems.

I did make a very noticeable red, black and white laminated tag for it and we added glow-in-the-dark necklaces or bracelets to the handle at night. Much easier to find it! :)

As you can tell from our December trip Donald thought it was a good idea:lovestruc

Ok. You guys convinced me. I just brought our good (but light) stroller up from the basement in preparation for our trip in a week. As soon as my DW gets home from work I will tell her.

By all means bring the stroller if you think she will use it.
I bought a bike buggy/stroller for my granddaughter (who will be 5) for our upcoming trip in Sept. She still tires and needs a nap and there is a lot of walking at Disney. When I bought it my 13 yr. old asked if she'd be allowed to sit in it.:rolleyes2

Hey, what does your "bike buggy" look like? I wonder if there is time for us to get one.

btw - its not what gets attached to the back of a bike is it? I know what that is.

Thanks

Ours kids are now 3 and 6 and neither one of them use a stroller at home. On our last trip in December we rented a double stroller for now other reason but for them to be able to sit down while we were in the parks.

Because of the price increase, on our next trip in Aug they may be forced to walk.

Yes it is.....But the one I have can be used as a stroller too.

My post count is too low to post a link.....:confused3
