Stroller Dilemma

My DH and I are currently in a debate about what to do for a stroller. We'll be taking our DS5 and DS2 in June. We have a sit-n-stand stroller made by Graco. I like the stroller but it is a little large. I've heard many people talk about other sit-n-stand strollers (like the Joovy Caboose) but never heard anyone discuss the Graco. I want to take our sit-n-stand and drive our Tahoe down to WDW. My DH wants to drive the Honda down and rent a Citi Mini Double stroller from kingdomstrollers.com. We've done the math and it ends up being the same cost either way. (BTW...we can't take the sit-n-stand and the Honda because it won't fit in the trunk.) So the basic dilemma is should we use the Graco sit-n-stand and have a more comfortable ride down to WDW and deal with the more cumbersome stroller OR rent the Citi Mini Double which could be better in the parks but force us to ride down in the Honda Accord? :confused3 (If anyone has specific experience with the Graco stroller at WDW I'd love to hear from you too!)

We also have a Graco Sit & Stand, and my younger ones will also be 5 and 2 when we go in August. We are flying, though. We decided not to bring the Sit & Stand and are renting the City Mini Double from Kingdom Strollers. We decided against the Sit & Stand because (1) it doesn't have a rain cover, so we'd probably end up buying one (whereas Kingdom will include one in the rental) (2) I have a hard time accessing the storage underneath, and I know we'll have a fairly large backpack in the parks that I'd like to keep under the stroller (3) I also have a hard-ish time folding it, which we'll need to do a lot for Disney transportation--I just find it to be awkward to collapse (4) our canopy is broken--that one probably doesn't apply to you! I do love using the Sit & Stand at home, though.

I don't have experience road-tripping in an Accord, though, so I can see how that would be a factor in the decision.

I'd rather have a city mini any day over any sit n stands, but I hate those strollers. Hard to steer, bulky and 2 kids can't both relax and sleep in them. In fact, I think it's hard for one kid to. W/ city mini you could have 2 snoozing kids, comfy & covered. Plus it's a dream to steer.

I am surprised the cost of the stroller is equal to the difference in gas - I'd think you'd save a ton w/ the Accord. With only 2 kids, I'd absolutely favor the Accord over the Tahoe if we could manage to pack it well. I guess it depends on how long the drive is.

That's pretty much my opinion.

My kids are past stroller age now, but I hated pushing the sit n stand when we borrowed one.

It's a 10 hour drive. :( The difference in gas is about $100 but to rent the Citi Mini for 7 nights is $70 +$25 for insurance +tax.

I would rent the citi mini double and leave the sit and stand home. I would also save a few bucks and rent from apple scooters. We have rented the citi mini double twice from them and have been as pleased as when we paid more to one of the other stroller rental companies. We are using them a third time in August. You should be able to cut your price by at least half.

with a summer trip, do you have a rain cover for the sit stand? I will guess you will need one for the afternoon showers, esp for when you leave it in stroller corral and that storm sneaks up. nothing worse than a wet stroller.

We don't have one which is definitely another dilemma.

Thanks for the apple scooters tip. I'll definitely look in to that. Do they deliver/pickup too?

We've rented a City mini double twice from Magic Strollers (approved by WDW for drop off delivery) and have been very happy with the strollers and the service. You can request a rain cover (free), just put the request in the memo request.

We use it for 3 year old twins and they both have plenty of room and plenty of shade.

We are going in Dec with DD almost 6 and DS 2.5 we have a double city select which I love. BUT the seats are one in front of the other and well that just doesn't work for Disney and my son being able to get in and out a lot. So we will rent a double side by side from one of the rental places. They will be comfy enough if they fall asleep and just easier. Plus I'd rather not deal with the stroller at airports ect.

Just checked the price and it was definitely cheaper at Apple Scooter. Does it come with a parent console or rain cover though? The website didn't say and it doesn't have an option to choose that. Since we're going in June that's probably going to come in handy.

It doesn't come standard. You can email them after you book the reservation and I think for reasonable rate they will add it on.

We have never felt like we needed either but that's just us. For a rain cover we have just used a cheapie poncho from the dollar store and brought some clothes pins and clipped it on. It worked well for us so far.
