stroller carryon suitcase....

Cute, but any child who fits in it should be riding in a carseat on the airplane. So, since I'd be dragging a carseat along anyway, I'd rather attach my carseat to a luggage cart - instant stroller without adding stress to your luggage!

I agree with tlbwriter. I attach DD's car seat to my carry-on the way that seat is attached. Much easier to get the car seat through the airport that way.

We don't fly, but was just curious as to what tlbwriter said. It states for children up to 40lbs. When flying, what is the age limit or requirment for a carseat? You said any kid that fits in that should be in a carseat on the plane. My DD is 7yo and only 45lbs. Last year at 6yo, she was 40lbs. Surely she doesn't need a carseat on the plane? Another reason I was curious is because I'm trying to convince DH to fly this Nov. so I was under the impression DD(7yo), and DS, almost 3yo wouldn't need a carseat on the plane.

How exactly did you attach it?? DH was saying we could try to figure out a way to attach it to the rolling carry on and she could ride in it strapped in her carseat.

Also it holds to 40 lbs though I guess most kids till 40 lbs would fit in carseat. But even if some of us don't agree with it plenty of parents fly with their toddlers not in carseats. ;) I'm just thinking of them. I guess the thing was invented by a flight attendent mom.

They don't "NEED" a carseat a 2 year old would be allowed to sit in the seat with the planes seatbelt. ;) Just a lot of folks here think carseats are the best way to go. There really isnt an age limit its more of a size thing. A child in a booster using a cars seatbelt would not be able to use the seat on plane. So whatever the carseats height and weight requirements are KWIM? MOst are 40 lbs or 40 inches. A few go above and beyond that.

I'm taking mine because I know she will be more comfy in it and might be able to sleep in it.

What type luggage cart do you have or is it some the airport have?

You're right, I should have said *most* kids who fit in that seat will need their carseat on the plane. There are tall and skinny kids who have already outgrown a harnessed seat. But, while your 2 year old doesn't *legally* need a carseat on the plane, I personally would take it for his safety and comfort. Here's an earlier post of mine that explains why. Don't think of legal requirements as the maximum in safety... think of them as the absolute bare minimum. And in this case, below the minimum.

I have not done this myself - my DD didn't fly until she was 5 years old. But many seasoned travellers swear by the Samsonite Micromover. It only holds up to 50 lb, so it wouldn't work in every situation, but I know lots of parents strap/bungee their carseat right onto it, strap the kid into the carseat, and off they go! This special cart for Britax seats is also an interesting possibility, though I don't know anybody who's used one.

I have been strapping my DS 3.5 to his car seat on a luggage cart since he was 10 mos. old. You just put a bungie cord through where the car seat belt goes and then attach it back on to itself and then another one at the top. It is great when you need to use the bathroom. They can't get out. I came up with this as one time his stroller was not put on the plane and I landed and had to carry him in his seat for about 35 gates to change planes.
We will be flying with DD who is 7 mos now and I will do the same thing. Check the stroller with the luggage and off we go.
