Are there any good places in the parks for new walkers to get out and stretch their legs during the day? Maybe a quiet grassy area or somewhere they wouldn't be trampled by adults or bigger kids? Thanks!

I'm wondering this, too. My little one will be 20 months old when we go in December, but he has just now started walking. He LOVES being able to toddle around and is so proud of himself. When we took him for his first birthday in May, he was really happy to just spend his days riding around in the stroller or in the sling. I know he won't tolerate that nearly as well now.

as long as they are walking then there are quite a few quiet corners that you can use - I can't think of all of them but a few of the top of my head - the rose garden at MK, the little patios by the lake at Epcot (there are a few, one by the Fish and chip shop in England springs to mind, I think theres on by Italy)
Actually there are quite a lot of quieter out of the way corners if you keep your eyes open.

My dd is still crawling and I am really hoping she is walking by October as she is not happy in her stroller all day - and I don't really think there is anywhere that is great for crawlers.

At MGM when we took DD at approx 14mo. there were hardly any people around the New York street, or whatever it is officially called. Also, I think near the Muppet Vision it was pretty deserted during the show at that time. At Epcot, enter some of the 'dead ends' in the various countries. At AK, at times the nature trails aren't very crowded.

In Mk try in the back of exposition hall. It is usually empty as people forget you can go back there. There is usually some sort of movie or cartoon showing. Long ramps and open areas to toddle and sometimes you will run into a character. There was a little park area behind the christmas shop but last trip Snow White was there signing autographs. In Epcot there are a ton of places you won't have to look hard. Actually there is one my DD will go to every time and I am not sure you are supposed to but it is open so she does. In front of living seas they have the new(ish) sculpture of Nemo and friends that they blow bubbles out of when it is meet and greet time with Nemo. Well to the back of the sculpture is a large, open grassy area. My DD loves it because she can run around and when they are doing the bubbles they usually float on back there so she can try and catch them with out a crowd of kids pushing around. Have fun!

My 18 month old loved the little park in Toontown. It's got a soft surface and some small slides & a little house for going in and out of. It really only attracts the 1-3 year old crowd, so it's not too crazy for unstable ones.

The boneyard is an okay choice in the AK, and we like the garden maze in England in the World Showcase.

I would also consider getting a leash too. No flames please. DD was newly walking when we went down there wasn't to keen on holding our hands, with the leash she was able to have the freedom she desired and I had piece of mind. We have 2 and will be taking them both come November (if I can find both of them.)

DD walked really anywhere

Maybe you can bring one of those neat sheets to throw down on the grass so your little one can crawl around a bit. They fold up really small so you can throw it in the stroller basket. They repel water and stuff and are pretty cheap. I think I might even bring mine!:scratchin

trouble is she would be off the sheet and down the road in about 30 seconds = she is very adventurous and very fast.

When we went in nov. ds was 14mo. and he just learned to walk.
We stayed at all star movies. every morning before going to the parks we let hin walk Andy's room and walk to the bus stop. So he didn't mind being in his stroller. At Mk he got out of his stroller at the poc ride to play with the steering wheels. He loved that. Ak they have aplace to pet the goats it wasn't crowded, mostly toddlers. he loved that as well. epcot theres the jumping water buy ms and tt which wasn't crowded either. that was his favorite. he had a wonderful trip:teeth:

We discovered a great place for this. At EPCOT, go through the International Gateway that leads to the Boardwalk. That path is quiet and we had a great time letting our 13 month old twins practice walking. Besides being quiet, it was a very lovely walk around the water.
