Stroller Bag??? (update)*got it today...LOVE it!*

Do you mean five below the discount type store for the fan? I have one close to me. I did get the kel-gar one from wallmart, I have yet to try it. Who is going soon with "the bag"? I am not going untill sept 21 also.:goodvibes

I am leaving 6/26. I have yet to hear that the bag is at my store. Hopefully will have it in time for my trip. Will report how it worked out if I do indeed get it on time.

Hi all I am back. I am happy to report that I got the stroller bag no problem. I used it both ways and it worked out great. They even took the stroller out of the bag and had it open and ready with the bag on top of it when I came off the plane. The bag got filthy instead of my light pink stroller :)

This sounds great. I just bought a Mac Triumph for our trip and was shocked when I saw the price for the travel bag by mac ($50).

We also had a terrible time with American Airlines. We were waiting for the strollers to be delivered after our last flight and they threw them all in a pile on a forklift type thing to carry them to the jetway. Anyway, my Graco was fell off the lift and the wheel broke. We spent so much time arguing with guest relations and they refused to pay. They said they aren't responsible for strollers that are damaged during transit. We tried to explain that falling off the lift wasn't normal transit but negligence. They were extremely rude so we called AA after getting home and they offered to reimburse for the repair. What a mess. Fortunately, it was at the end of our disney vacation and not the beginning. But, it did stink to end such a wonderful vacation with that frustration!

We're flying Southwest this time and getting a bag, so hopefully that will help.

carrie6466, Thanks for the update. Our Macs are the bright orange one and the new turquiose one (both volos) but it has grey webbing on it. both have grey accent colors so I know they will be better off covered up!

We used our bright red Gate Check bag to and from Orlando and it was wonderful! Both times it was waiting for us as we got off the plane. It was easy to carry the stroller from the waiting area to the gate check (we put it in the bag while we were waiting to board the plane) using the handle on the side.

The bag got some very unsightly black marks (grease?) on it in quite a few places but the stroller was pristine when we took it out! (Yellow and gray stroller) It got thrown in the wash when we got home (wasn't intentional it just got grabbed with a pile of red things because I hadn't folded it back up yet) and most of the stains came out of the bag. Even if they hadn't, I'd much rather the $15 bag get stained than my expensive stroller!

BTW - I LOVED our bright yellow stroller (Peg Perego Pliko P3) @ WDW! It was always easy to spot in the sea of blue/grey/black that seems dominant there! It was easy to fold up and I love that the hood comes all the way down over the seat, so, as long as we remembered to pull it down, DS's seat stayed dry when it rained.

We started out locking the stroller, but, once again, got lazy and didn't lock it unless we knew we were going to be away from it for an hour or more. (like eating a table service dinner at the parks)
We always left the clear backpack in the stroller and just took our camera/valuables with us in a smaller bag. Nobody ever messed with the backpack.

Thanks, good to know for the future I guess. We just returned from WDW last week and luckily didn't have any problems with our stroller get damaged. Has anyone here had their strollers damaged or known someone who has?

Oh yes southwest ruined my double stoller to the point that the wheels fell off when we went to use it.

Sorry to be so late reporting back but perhaps someone can still benefit.

We used 2 red gate check stroller bags to and from WDW (PHL to MCO)and they were so worth it!

Even the airport personal thanked us for using them and said they qwished everyone would take the time to cover their strollers as they have very little control over where the gate check items will sit/fit in! Interesting! I was sure they would think it was a pain in the neck but guess not.

oh and yes, both bags sustained some very dirty black marks but our strollers came through perfectly. added note. I left our valco cup holders and rain hoods attached (we have 2 Mac volos)as well as rain covers stored in bottom basket. no problem at all!

We folded up our raincovers in stroller all week with no problem.

HTH!

Thanks for posting all the info on the red Gate Check bags. I just ordered one for my new Mac Quest stroller.

This eases my mind about gate checking it for next year's trip!

Just giving this thread a bump - it's been a while since it was seen, and I'm sure there are other families wondering about this very topic. ;)

Wow! I am just seeing this after a long time on this board. I am so glad that I saw it as I ordered the red gate check bag a week or so ago. I haven't gotten it yet but can't wait until I do now. I was planning on a Mac in it, which I am sure will fit fine, but nice to see the Pliko will too.

This bag would be perfect for my Maclaren Triumph, but I am going to be upgrading to a double umbrella style stroller. Anyone know if this bag would fit one of those or do you know of an inexpensive bag that would?

Last time we went to Disney we had just purchased a Mac, never used it till the day we left. When we got to Orlando it was FILTHY. It was light blue and covered with grease and dirt. How PO'd was I?

Baby Center has this item for $12.56 but there is a charge for shipping, Walmart for $13.96 with free ship to store. Has anyone ever used the one for the car seat??

Goldenears - find out what the folded dimensions of the double umbrella stroller are and maybe we can help you with more info. :) The Peg Perego Pliko P3 is pretty darn big (for an umbrella style stroller) when folded, so if the double umbrella folds fairly small, it may work.

The big question on shipping is - is your local Wal-Mart going to be a royal PITA to go and get it from? I know mine was the one time I ordered something delivered to the store. It was worth it for me to pay the small shipping fee to get it to my house and not have to deal with that messy, disorganized, crowded unfriendly place.

We have a double Maclaren and now I'm thinking we should get a bag for it. Which bag has worked best for those of you with a double? Was the single red one big enough for a double Mac? Or did you like the JL childress of Alphabetz double stroller bags? Any problems with those bag being sent to baggage claim instead of getting them as soon as you get off the plane? Thanks!

I definately agree with this. I did ship to store, but DH is a manager there, so it is his hassle, not mine and he is there everyday. If I factored in cost of gas that usually justifies shipping costs.
