We just got back from our latest trip and my youngest ds uses a GAC for his brace for scoliosis/torticollis and his muscle weakness. We use the stroller as a wheelchair as well. I asked for the GAC when purchasing my ticket at a guest service window outside of MK. He handed it to me and I asked (knowing from previous trips) for the red sticker that you put on your stroller to indicate it is being used as a wheelchair and he ensured me I didn't need it. So off we went.

At least 3 or 4 times during the trip I was scolded by CM's at attractions for not having the sticker on my stroller. My sister kept insisting I go get one but the line at guest services was always long and we were always on the go so I didn't.

But next time around to avoid any issues I will definately insist on the sticker for the stroller. So this is a PSA to others who plan to use their stroller as wheelchairs to not forget to ask for the red sticker.

Sorry to hear that CMs scolded you.
It is easier for the CMs to see the red tag, but if someone has a GAC with the correct stamp to use the stroller as a wheelchair, CMs should not give you a hard time. It's you that is being inconvenienced by having to keep taking it out.

There are people who don't want the sticker (possibly because the child in the stroller would be very unhappy to have the sticker there). If you don't have a sticker, it would be very important to have the GAC ready to show the CMs whenever necessary.

How new is the red sticker? I worked as a CP in Fantasyland during the spring and summer of 04. In 05 and 06 I picked up shifts there frequently while a CP in entertainment. In all that time I did not see a lot of stickers on strollers. Certainly some had them, but we were never taught to look for it. If you showed me the GAC that was enough and off you went. The only time I or my coworkers would question was if somebody did not have the GAC, and then we directed them to guest relations. I'm surprised that many people hassled you when you had the GAC.

I can't remember exactly when they started using something on the strollers as wheelchairs, but it was probably about 2005-6. It started out as a tag. I had a picture of one once, but can't find it. I think it was while with blue lettering and a place to write the date. It was attached to the stroller, but if I remember correctly, it was with a string, similar to a gate check tag.
Some people had that and some people had the "stroller as wheelchair" stamp on a GAC. From what some CMs had posted at the time, it was an experiment to start with.

I'm not positive, but think they went next to a white sticker. On our last trip in October, I saw a lot of red stickers. They are much more visible and won'[t come off easily. They stick on the same way that baggage tags are attached to your suitcase at the airport and a pretty big part of the tag sticks up so you can notice it pretty well.

I don't think they have a sticker at DLR. :confused3 If they do I have never seen one. We have got a GAC for my 5 yr old son the last couple of trips. He has autism. For us they put a stamp on the GAC that says "stroller=wheelchair". And we have never had a CM ask us about a sticker.
