Stroller Advice

We are heading to Disney this November. We have a Peg Perego, Pliko P3 Stroller. I am not sure if we should take this with us or buy something else for travel. We will also be going a cruise this winter so if I did buy something else we would use it for that trip as well. The Pliko P3 is a great stroller, but my concern is flying with it! I know you can check it right before your board, but it was not a cheap stroller. On the other hand, my DS is very comfortable napping in it, etc. Does anyone have any advice or have been in a similiar situation? If I could find an even smaller stroller that would be just as comfy that would be great! Thanks!

We took a Pliko to WDW in January, including on the plane. It was no problem. Before you board, fold the stroller and lock the front wheels. It was easy at WDW, too. DH folded and manned the stroller while I took DDs onto the buses. And we hung a backpack on the back - I like that it doesn't fall over when I take my DD out.

It is just such a great, all-around stroller.

I hope that answers all of your questions! Let me know if it doesn't.

I can't give any advice about the plane since we drove down, but we just got back from WDW and took 2 Pliko's with us. They worked out great, although my oldest is getting too big for it now, so we'll have to look for something else for our trip next year.

I have a list for qualities needed for a vacation stroller:

1. reclines for napping- that way you don't have to go back to the hotel- unless YOU need a nap ;)
2. large enough basket for everything we tote
3. drink holder for my soda
4. snack tray with cup/bottle holder for the child
5. folds easy because you have to gather everything up fast and fold the stroller up for the buses and for the railroad train.
6. able to withstand a huge sudden rainstorm
7. Handle tall enough for me (tall) to comfortable push
8. *It's not too "nice" that you're really bugged if it is damaged on the airplane or worse, stolen (I think people stroller-shop for nice strollers!) I had a great Combi once that the airline broke the front axle so we had to rent for 10 days. Each stroller we rented was dirty and sticky.

You can buy a super cheap one just for the trip at Walmart (or a similar store)
and leave your nice Peg at home. It will get hammered at WDW. Still MUCH cheaper than renting one. Umbrella strollers, to me, are soooo useless, except for the nicer brands.

I am anti-rental because I'm not convinced they sanitize them as well as they should. Kids have accidents in them or vomit. If you need to rent a stroller, use a Clorox wipe on it and tie something colorful around the handle to easily recognize it in the vast sea of strollers at any given ride or attraction. It probably will not be in the same place you left it!

I have traveled a ton with our P3. IMO it is the perfect Disney stroller. We actually bought ours specifically for our first trip when my dd was 5 mos old. It has all the features of a big stroller, but folds down like an umbrella. Light weight, easy to push, comfy for baby. I LOVE ours. I would take it. I would take the cup holder off, though. We left ours on and it broke off when we gate checked it.

I love using my peg pliko too! It has a GREAT sun shade for that strong Florida sun. Great recline, comfy, closes up small and quickly.

I used to bring my huge Eddie Bauer stroller-- it had a nice parent tray and huge basket. However, it also weighed about 100 lbs, so I just couldn't stand bringing it anymore.

The pliko is my most reliable, nearly perfect stroller. I was given the stroller at my baby shower over 4 years ago. I've had at least 5 other strollers, but the pliko is the one I keep on going back to. Love it!

Ditto on removing the parent cup holder!

Love, love, love our P3 for Disney. I'd recommend removing the canopy and tray and packing them in your checked baggage - two less things to break on the plane. You could get a cheapie from somewhere, but I guarantee you that you will be missing your P3 the whole time you are pushing the cheapie!
