String's Atkin's Journal (Please Comment)

Beth, nuts CAN be evil!! I've learned to count mine into separate zip-loc bags for each ounce. Otherwise I tend to go overboard! :D

Glad to hear your painting is almost finished. Congrats on getting your 2 mile WATP done!! :Pinkbounc

Hang in there! The weekend is on it's way!! :sunny:

Hi Beth,

Just checking on you. I agree with Doe, nuts can be evil. We are allowed 15 but I never eat that many. I usually just have 7. I love almonds but they don't love me back!

I'm glad you were able to get that exercise in, it makes all the difference in our moods sometimes.

Take care and have a good weekend.

Wow, Beth! What a week you've had! I'm totally jealous, though, that you've had professional painters come in and take care of 5 rooms at once. My DH always wants to do it himself--even though he absolutely HATES it--talk about stressful. The moaning and groaning that goes on as a result--and that's just from me! :p

You've done a great job of staying on or close to your plan all week in the midst of painters' chaos. Celebrate that!:Pinkbounc
Also, kudos for taking a walk instead of medicating yourself with cookies after a fight with DH. Those are the strategies that will make your weight loss stick for life!!:Pinkbounc

Beth, have a good day. Keep taking those iron pills and be good to yourself.

Erin

Oh the nuts! I stay completely away from them too. I had some macadamia nuts one time and I went overboard.

Glad those painters are gone and you're back into your exercise routine. Have a great weekend Beth.:D

I am an absolute nut lover! I have to be really careful not to overdo them, but they have helped me out in times that I need a "pocket snack" to take with me. I looked up the carb content on different nuts in the Atkins carb counter book. They aren't bad, and the nuts are full of so many good things for us, it's just the stopping. Nuts for me are like chips for others.........can't just eat one.

Have a good day.....!

Ugh.... What a week. I've been totally out of my comfort zone. I need my house to be settled soon. The painter needs to do anothe coaat on our bedroom, so Tuesday is when they will be totally done. I've reassembled one of the bathrooms, katie's room, and the guest room. We had a ton of call ins over the weekend, so I stayed over both days. 32 hours in 2 days. I'm exhausted, so I'll be headed back to bed soon. I didn't exercise this weekend. Well, one of my patients weighed 345lbs, and I kep[t pulling him up in bed. That's weight lifting right? Just kidding. I stayed on plan for eating. I've been having 1 slice low carb bread with 1.5 t peanut butter for breakfast. Lunches have been cream cheese wrapped in deli meat and salad. Dinner was a Subway wrap one night. Ceasar salad Saturday night. I've had 6 strawberries a day. WEent to psycho granny's for dinner tonight. I had shrimp, salad, spinach, and marinated beef ribs. I probably overate, but it was tasty, and I hadn't eaten since 4AM. I've been doing better on the water, probably 2-3 liters/24hr. I need to do better on that.

I forgot to weigh myself today. We were running so late. I'll weigh myself in the AM. I'm not expecting much. I've added carbs to my diet, an extra serving of nuts, not enough water, stress, and very little exercise. I need a swift kick in the behind. We'll see in the morning.

I hope to catch up on journals tomorrow. I hope every one has had a good weekend.
Beth

Beth, you don't need a kick, you need a  ! Good grief, woman, you have so much going on! I hope that you can get some good rest. After that you can think about exercise and your healthy eating plan. Even with all you've been doing, you're doing GREAT!

Best wishes as you finish up your painting project!

Okay, so I'm amazed. I'm pretty sure my scale must be broken. I can't believe that I weigh 231.5. That is a 4 pound lossd this week. Someone must be looking out for me. (Actually last weigh in was middle of TOM) I did very little exercise last week, and today I've already done the WATP 2 miles tape. I'm headed to curves this afternoon. I've already had a liter of water. Meals will be on plan.

I'm hoping to put together the other bathroom today. I'll feel much better with that project out of the way. I want to clean the house. It has become pit like. DH has Katie on the weekends, and the house is trashed every Monday. See, I'm very ambitious now that I've hade 10 hrs of sleep.

I'm not going to claim y new clippie. I'll reweigh on Wednesday. I just want to double check. I'd rather wait to claim one, than give a clippie up.

Have a great day. I'll catch up on journals today as well.
Beth

Strings, your journal has inspired me tonight. Glad to hear of this newest weight loss. Excellent! You have been working so hard at your job---lots of hours, and lots of lifting. Can't you get extra exercise points for that??????? A remarkable profession. I have the greatest respect for anyone in it.

Keep up the good work. Hang in there-------painting is almost done.

Thanks for posting your day.

Thought I'd update with my menus. Water total for today was 3.5 liters. I did go to curves today, and I did an extra circuit. DH had the day off, so he had DD. I took my meds and vitamins. The iron is ripping me apart, but I know I need it.
Breakfast: String Cheese and water.
Lunch: 1/2 grilled chees sandwich on low carb bread. Salad with ranch dressing.
Dinner: Steak, Parmesan/garlic zucchini, salad.
Snack: Low carb ice cream then cup of tea later.

All in all, I did good today. I was hugely tempted by DD popcorn. I resisted. I just knew I wouldn't stop. It's like the nuts. I'm better off abstaining at this point.

Plan for tomorrow:
1.) Take my meds.
2.) Eat on plan.
3.) Drink at least 3l water.
4.) Do the 2 mile WATP tape and some crunchers.
5.) Relax with a book for at least 15 minutes.

Have a cheat free day.
Beth:sunny:

Beth, you are doing an amazing job!!!

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc 4 POUNDS GONE! Bye-Bye Pounds!!

With work, painting, and everything else going on, you've stayed on plan and found time to exercise! WOW!! I just KNOW that beautiful new clippie will be yours very soon!

Keep on goin', Beth!! :cool1: :cool1: I'm walking right beside you!!

That's so great the scale is moving downward for you - congrats on losing 4 more!

Yes, lifting patients counts! I used to teach skiing fulltime and picking up clients off the snow was definitely exercise - I had some 300+ ones too! 32 hours in two days is grueling. You deserve way more than 10 hours of sleep after all that.

Those darn iron pills...gotta take them, but I wish they were more body friendly. I feel for you.

keep up the great work,
Laurie

Today was pretty good eating wise. Just a short post before I head to bed.
I did my 2 mile WATP tape. I drank 5 liters of water. I took my meds. I feel lousy. The iron pills are killing me. I feel so bloated and uncomfortable. Ugh.
Breakfast: 1 egg. 2 sausage links.
Lunch: Large salad
Snack: 5 cashews
Dinner: Tenderloin, broccoli, small salad.
Snack: Russel stover low carb mint patties (2) These are awesome by the way.

Your menu looks great. Nicely balanced and topped off with a super treat! I have to stay away from the candy-like treats. I would be doomed.

Thank you for your post to my journal. Enough said.

Woohoo, 4 lbs gone!:hyper: Good job! It's weird how some weeks the scale just decides to make a big jump isn't it? I'm happy for you Beth. Thanks again for the info on the WATP tapes, I'll pick one up at Target this weekend. Take care!:D

Well, I said I would weigh myself today and claim my clippie. I didn't. These iron pills are doing a number on me. I don't want to get on the scale and be discouraged. I'm afraid I'll stop taking the iron pills. I know I need them. I'm hoping this will be resolved by weigh in on Sunday.
Breakfast: 1l water, cup coffee, 2 bites of Atkins apple hot cereal. Ugh...It was disgusting. I threw it out. Oh well, it was worth a try.
Have a good one.
Beth

Hi Beth,

I'd like to hear more about that Russell Stover candy. It's probably a mistake to ask but it sounds so good. Where do you get it from?

I am so proud of you for your 4 pound lose even if you did decide not to weigh yourself today. There are so many factors that can shift a woman's weight, I think that is one of the most nerve racking parts of losing weight. What is that darn scale going to say. No matter what it says this week, you are a real loser and don't you doubt it (of course I mean loser in a good sense). I'll check on you again later!

Ever had one of those days when you could eat everything in sight? I had one yesterday. It wasn't even Dzone time. Ugh. I did stay on plan, and I kept my carbs low. I keep my clippie It was close though. I think it was the fact that I skipped breakfast. That cereal was just so nasty. I should have eaten something else. I also think the lack of cheese(fat) contributed.
AM snack: Celery, ham, water.
Lunch: Turkey lettuce wrap, salad
PM snack: 2 russel stover candies (.4 carbs) cup tea
Dinner: 2 burger patties, snap peas, salad
Snack: SF jello and decaf tea.

I did go to Curves-3 circuits. Water intake 4.5 liters.
When DH came home from work, I handed him the candy. I knew it was a danger time for me. I told him he could distribute it when he thought I needed a treat. He hid it in the basement.

I'm still not feeling 100%. I've got a lowgrade fever this am. If I feel better this afternoon ot evening, I'll do WATP.

Lisa, I found the candy at Costco. I've also seen it in Meijer and Kroger. I liked the ones at Costco because they were individually wrapped. 2 pieces per pack/ 15 packs per box. There are chocolate mints (.2 carbs a piece), Pecan chocolate caramels(2 cabs/piece), and chocolate toffees. I can't have tree nuts, so I cant comment on the pecan ones. The mints are good, but the toffees are deadly. Like I said, DH had to hide them from me. Purchase at your owm risk.
:p
Have a great day.
Beth

I'm going to post my meals, and then I'm off to bed.
Breakfast: Atkins Morning Start bar and tea.
Lunch: 2 eggs with cheese and a slice of ham.
Dinner: 2 slices of lc toast with peanut butter and tea. I was feeling really queasy.
I didn't do my WATp tape, and I only drank 2l of water today.
I hope everyone had a good day. Good night.
Beth:faint:zzzzzzzz

Beth, I hope you're feeling better soon! I'm sending extra  and anti-nausea pixie dust :wizard: your way, sweetie!! I'm thinking those iron pills are evil!!

You did a great job enlisting DH's help with the treats - what a smart move!! I'm glad he's so supportive!

Sleep tight and sweet dreams!
