String's Atkin's Journal (Please Comment)

Hey Beth!

You have a very busy weekend coming up, especially Sunday! At least you make it a point to exercise. You have come so far! Keep it up!!!:sunny:

Carol:wave2:

Katie woke me up at 3AM. She had wet the bed. Well getting u to change the bad made it impossible for me to go back to sleep. I tried for an hour then gave up. I have done the dishes that DH "forgot" to do last night,. 2 loads of laundry, and I've gone to the Y. I did 2 weight circuits and 35 minutes on the treaddie. I am now sitting, watching the Today show, and drinking my tea. I'll do breakfast in a little bit.

I have been feeling desperate. I can feel a major binge on the horizon, if I don't do something. This is the same feeling I had before I went off induction last time. I had been on it for 5-6 weeks that time. I've decided to go off induction as of today. I'd rather add 5 carbs a day than a major binge. I feel bad since i joined the May induction challenge. Oh well, I didn't make the MD challenge either.

Plan for the day...
1.) Meds taken.12/12
2.) 1.5 l water so far.
3.) Exercise 9/12
4.) Food see below.
5.) Family not yet, they are still sleeping.

Breakfast- scrambled eggs with cheese.
Lunch- salad and ham/cheese rollups
Dinner- beef and broccoli stir fry.
Dessert- strawberries and whipped cream.

Just planning my meals for the day is making me feel calmer. I made the right choice.

Have a good one,
Beth

:wave2: Good morning, Wonder Woman! :p You are just smoking right through the chores this morning, aren't you! :Pinkbounc Though I admire all that you've done so far today, I'm really blown away by your ability to assess your situation re: induction and make such a good choice for yourself! Wow! To avoid a binge by adding those 5 carbs back into your diet and to do it because you know yourself and you know that it's what you need. . .good for you, Beth.

I hope you have a good day--though you've lived most of it before 10 a.m.!:p

Erin

Beth: I think a 50 lb clippie is like winning an olympic medal - I'm sending a few Mickey fireworks your way!

Adding back 5 carbs is not a bad thing - you've really puched up your workouts. Your body needs the extra energy in order to burn up bodyfat. To little fuel and your body will demand more - I think you are very smart to give it a little more to keep a binge from coming on or sending it into starvation mode. There is a chapter in the Atkins book about adjusting carb intake to accomodate your activity level.

Believe me - housework, gardening, taking care of a busy child is all excercise! It counts.

Thanks for being there for me!

-Laurie

(BTW, my FIL doesn't care for me at all! Doesn't matter what I do - I've decided that it's his problem, not mine.)

Beth-
I think you are right to give up the induction if it is going to lead to a binge. To often we don't listen to our bodies and consequently set ourselves up for failure. The induction did what you wanted - jump started your weight loss again. Now you've got the increased exercise from the Y to bump things up. I think 5 extra carbs a day is not a bad thing at all, especially if you use them wisely, like for fruit and veggies!::yes::
I hope your party preparations are going well. Believe me, Katie will appreciate it all!:teeth:
Have a great evening!!:sunny:
TTFN-

Your meals look great. It is wise to add those extra carbs back in. Strawberries are healthy for you anyway. I have been munching on strawberries and believe me it is better than the starburst candy that I was eyeing. Curb it with a good "sweet" and you will be fine. You are doing great. Give yourself a pat on the back.::yes::

hanks for the support guys. You are definately the reason I have been able to get that 50 pound clippie. THANK YOU!

Today went well foodwise. I followed my plan until dinner. Dinner ended up being eggs sausage and lc toast. Won is going to work late tomorrow, so I went shopping for Katie's bday presents tonight. I managed to find her Disney princess bike on the 3rd stop. It meant I skipped dinner. I literally just finished eating. I usually eat by 6PM. I'm not sure that I'll be eating the strwberries tonight, but the toast was awesome.

I'm headed to bed in a few minutes. I hope to get a better night's sleep.

Hsve a good one.
Beth

Hey Beth!

I agree that you are doing a fine job.:D

I don't like the few times where I skipped a meal, not purposely. I am usually going somewhere and get tied up. That's a bad feeling. This is a time, I would say, that I more likely to go off program.

Have a great day!!

Carol:wave2:

Morning Beth!
I hope you have a wonderful day today! I'm glad that you were able to find Katie's birthday gift. ::yes:: She is going to be one happy, little girl!:Pinkbounc

Take care!

Well, another sleepless night in the Kim household. Katie was having nightmare last night. A kid at school was teasing her, and she is very upset about it. She had dreams about Holly beating her up while Lauren laughed at her. She's not even four for god's sake. I'm going to talk with her teacher this afternoon. On the bright side. Holly won't be in Katie's calss next year.

I've been to the gym. I did 30 minutes on the bike and 45 on the treaddie. I've also scoured the kitchen. I'll mop the floor tonight. My least favorite job. It desperately needs to be done. I picked up everything I need for Katie's cake. She wants a care bear party. This is my first foray into decorating a cake myself. If it dosn't work, I have the backup plan of sticing a bunch of care bear action figures on top of a regular cake. At least I'm prepared. I'll also need to make 24 cupcakes for school on Monday.

I've more cleaning to do, so I'll try to get to journals later.

Breakfast-eggs with cheese.
Lunch McDonald's cobb salad with my own ranch dressing. 6 net carbs for the salad, 3 for the dressing.
Dinner= steak and broccoli stir fry that was supposed to be for yesterday.

If all goes as planned, I'll reach all goals today.
Have a good one,
Beth

Little girls can be so mean sometimes! I worry for my daughter when she is even older because of that! Hope today was a good one.:D

:flower1: :daisy: :flower1: A BEAUTIFUL NEW CLIPPIE!!! :flower1: :daisy: :flower1:

Congratulations on your beautiful 50 pound clippie, Beth!! Wear it with pride - you've earned it with your hard work, patience and persistence!! You continue to be an inspiration to me!

I'm so sorry that Katie is having a tough time. I hope the teacher can help Holly learn to treat people in a nicer and more respectful way - good for you for bringing this problem to her/his attention.

Good luck with Katie's party - remember that she'll be happy even if the house isn't spotless and the food's not perfect and since the party is in her honor, her opinion is the one that matters most!

As for your MIL, the problem certainly sounds like it's hers, not yours and nothing you do will change it. It's something SHE has to choose to change. I'm here to tell you that I think you're wonderful - I wouldn't care if you were purple with pink polka dots and green hair! It's the person inside that matters most, Beth, and you are truly a beautiful person. If MIL can't see that, then it's her loss. At least her son doesn't share her prejudice.

I hope you find some time to relax and take extra good care of you throughout all your busy days.

 and :sunny:

Well, I'm ahead of schedule. I managed to get Katie down for a nap, so I've mopped the floors. I've been practicing with the cake decorating tips. I think I can do this. I had an iced coffee for a snack this afternoon.. YUMMY! I'm off to mow the lawn before it rains.

Doe- thanks for the encouragement. I've made peace with the fact that MIL won't be a fan of mine. The best I can say for her is that she adores Katie, so there is some glimmer of humanity there. Oh and Doe, in high school I did my experimenting. I never was into the smoking/drugs thing, so I did the goth thing. I've had green, black, purple, neon red, and blue hair at some point of my HS career. :scared1:  Fortunately I grew out of that stage as soon as I left the small town I grew up in.My hair is now its natural mousy brown, and will stay that way.

Hey Beth!

You have been very busy!!! I guess that's another key to losing weight!

MIL's are something else at times! Deep down she has to appreciate you, even if it's for giving her such a wonderful gd.

You sound like you were sort of a rebellious teen! I wouldn't have every thought of changing my hair color when I was a teen. My mom would not have permitted that! That's funny!:hyper:

Have a fabulous Friday!

Carol:wave2:

Beth, I have 3 words for you....

WE WANT PICTURES!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

When do we get to see the goth Beth with the wild hair???

My mother would have been MORTIFIED if I had dyed my hair in high school! Now why didn't I think of that???? Just kidding! Mom & I get along much better now. ;)

I'm happy that you got lots done yesterday and I bet Katie's cake will turn out to be so cool! My hat's off to you, Beth! I find you amazing with all that you get done! If there truly is a Superwoman, I think you're it!! ::yes::

I'm sending  and :sunny: for your Friday!

Weighin was today. 216.5. I'm down 2 more pounds.:smooth:I can keep my clippie. I'm always nervous the week after I claim a clippie. No work this weekens, so I am geeked
I am headed to the Y in a few minutes. Weight training today.then at leas 30 minutes of cardio.
I've nothing planned for meals which makes me nervous. I'm winging it today. I've taken my meds and haad 1l water so far.

Have a good Friday.
Beth

All pictures from HS are under lock and key. ;) My mom was pretty philosophical after the 1st time I redyed my hair. I had dyed the ends of my hair purple, and she made me get it dyed back to normal. That night I dyed the entire thing green. I think she figured out that this was the worst that I was going to do, and it was just hair. She also knew that I am incredibly stubborn, and would keep doing it. My dad thought it was hilarious.I'm just lucky my hair didn't fall out back then.

:rotfl: Beth, you wild thing, you! You know what's going to happen now, don't you? Katie is going to be your mother's revenge! You're going to have the wildest (but sweetest :D )rebel child you can imagine, and your mom will just smile knowingly in the background. :teeth: You know what they say, Beth: what goes around. . . ;)

I'm so excited about Katie's Care Bear party! How cute! You've got to let us know how everything turns out: the cake, her reaction at the bike, etc. And as far as those snooty preschoolers go, you did the right thing by going in to talk to the teacher. At the preschool I teach at there was a class with only 6 girls. Three of them set up some sort of kingdom where they acted like princesses (whispering and talking about other kids and refusing to sit with other girls) and it just made life miserable for the others. Fortunately, their teacher was a sensitive woman who spent a lot of time teaching about friendliness and kindness, and the situation was resolved. Still--you have to wonder, why does it happen?

Well, Beth, enjoy your weekend. I'll check in on you just to see how you're doing. . .

Erin

Beth I dated a guy in high school that would dye his hair every color in the rainbow. He was so cool! LOL! My High School pictures are also under lock and key - I went through a grunge stage - it wasn't pretty:rolleyes: .

Good Luck with the birthday cake! It sounds fabulous. I was really into care bears when I was Katie's age - so glad to see they are making a comeback.

~Amanda

Beth - teenage rebellion! I love it! Your daughter will really enjoy those hidden pics someday!

You are so brave for doing the decorating of the cake yourself - I've not attempted anything that creative since I was in Girl Scouts and it was a badge I just had to have. The royal icing set up like concrete and the cake was very pretty but unedible.

I hope that Katie has a wonderful birthday party!

Have an great weekend off! And yay for 2 more lbs and keeping that beautiful clippie!
