I've just finished watching the whole show, and it looks like it's going to be a great series. I think Anton and Ann will be giving us lots of laughs, and I really felt for poor Ola, fancy having to end up with Paul Daniels Some great pairings and I was surprised how shy Gavin Henson was .. I thought he'd be full of himself

What a shame that Ian, Darren, Matthew, Karen and Lilia aren't dancing with the celebs this year

Roll on 1st October, I can't wait

When Strictly first started obviously it harked back to the day of Come Dancing and although I liked the more traditional set, I did like the refreshed new modern one. The only think I would say I wasn't that keen on the new format. With the extra neon and the new layout with the set it did feel like a cheap dating show when the partners were revealed. I prefered the way they met in the past, at their rehearsal studio (that first encounter was genuine, by the way).

It's quite normal for the reigning champ to get a weaker partner, hence Ola getting Paul Daniels.
My friend text Lilia on saturday and joked with her that she was lucky to be out of it as she probably would have got Paul Daniels
Can't believe we've got to wait a few weeks for more

I really enjoyed the first show on Saturday, I just love Strictly, however agree that I prefer the way the partners used to meet. I never particularly enjoy the first few weeks of dancing until they all get a bit better, but can't wait for my Saturday night fix of Strictly, and especially It Takes Two in the week.

I was surprised that I really enjoyed Saturday's intro to the upcoming series!!! I didn't engage with it at all last year - DH reminded me that I was mad because they replaced Arlene or some such nonsense but anyway, I'm looking forward to this year's...

I too liked the look of the hunky shaven-headed male dancer and I think they said he was a Latin expert - yummy, can't wait!!! Sad not to see Matthew or Karen (except in the audience) but I'm sure it'll all work out!!! I actually liked the mix of "celebs" - only 3 from the soaps (I'm not counting Patsy Kensit - she's been around for years...) and just the 1 I didn't recognise (Scott Maslen)...

I finally got to watch the opening show last night - thank goodness for V+ boxes

I thought it was a nice way to introduce everyone, and I found I knew more of them than I thought when I watched their clips on them and what they've done.

I did have to question if they already knew who their partners were, as in the final dance they all managed to end up with the person who they'll be dancing with in the series

I'm hoping Tina and Michelle will both do well, I thought they both looked lovely!

YES!! That's what I was thinking - they all started off randomly in the group dance but ended up with the correct people

Apparently the celebs and pros rehearsed together with the celebs doing one ending and the pros having to remember seven different endings depending who they got.

Yay !! Strictly Come Dancing starts properly tonight

I can't wait to see it tonight and tomorrow night ... and then It Takes Two must start next week too
