I have a question....We leave in 2 days.. :teeth: ..And I was just wondering if they are very strict with kids menus. I know that most of them say up to 9 years old, but my 13 year old is very picky, and most of the time the adult things are way to much for her to eat, or she doesnt like anything. So if you could tell me if they are, or some past experiences that would be great! TIA!!

This was not a problem at all. My DS (12) is also very picky and prefers the items on the childrens menu. Also he eats like a bird so the amount of food would be a total waste.

He was never turned down a child's menu. We were either asked by the waitstaff or he asked and was provided one.

This was no problems at all!

I was also wondering about this. I was on the DDP and do not have any children going with me on my trip. However, I wanted to order one of the kids deserts at one of the TS restaurants. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks. :)

We were told at several restaurants that DS had to order off the adult menu, he was 10 when we were there in March. This happened at LTT, Plaza Rest., WCC and Biergarten. At Prime Time they gave him an adult menu and I asked for a child's menu and was given one. No problem ordering form children's menu at WPC. Mostly DS orders from adult menu now anyway but I didn't like being told up front by hostess that he would have to order adult. At LTT, Plaza and WCC they asked the children's ages at check in. I am not one who is comfortable lying so I was honest. What ever, probably depends on the hostess or server.

Just to clarify we were NOT on the dining plan. We have APs so we used our DDE for a discount.

We have never used the dining plan so rules and regs may be different if you are trying to use credits.

Hey, Minnie,

Last year we were in exactly the same circumstances - DDE with APs. The servers mostly didn't care, if my dd (12 at the time) wanted to order from the kids' menu that was fine by them. Now that she's a more curvy 14 year old, it might be more problemmatic.... Given how little she eats on any given day, I have to admit too, that I was maybe stretching the truth about ages at a couple of buffets. ;)

As for being on the Dining Plan (which we will be this time around), you WANT to order adult meals! The credit comes off whether it's a $9 child's meal or a $49 adult, so really you're much better off ordering the more expensive food. Our plan actually is to pay cash for the dd7's meals and save her TS credits for an extra character meal :)

Good luck, and have a great trip!

I agree, I would "pool" her credits and pay OOP that way you can all enjoy an extra special meal..

vicb- from the list of rest. you were told your child would need to order from the adults all seem to be buffet or all you can eat type places (skillet at WCC) so I can see why they would charge an adult price..

Thank you guys soo much! I am so excited for our trip, but it seems like there is still so much stuff to do!! Where does time go?! lol, but any ways thanks again!!

We also have AP's and DDE card. Anyone know if they will let a 13 yo eat off the child's menu at Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic Package?

I have the opposite problem I have a 5 year old that will eat prime rib from the adult menu and finish it! Did it twice at Olivia's during our Easter trip. Hard to get the DP for him.

I don't think you'll have much luck "stretching the truth" at a buffet with the 14 year old since the child age is 9 :confused3

We will have APs and the DDE card for our trip in July so we will go with the same assumptions. I would have no problem going elsewhere if he is not allowed to do this. There are many adult menus that offer next to nothing that he would enjoy eating. When we are on vacation - we are on vacation. Pretty much anything goes as long as he eats. I'll fight with him at home over veggies but for one week we get a break :)

The skillet at the WCC is only one of the many menu items available. My DS asked for a child's menu and was granted one at WCC very easily. We've never had a problem with this at all. The only one that was a possible buffet from vicb was LTT (depending whether lunch or dinner).

Yes buffets would be a different story. When we go to buffets we go in knowing that we will be paying $30 for next to nothing for my DS but it is the experience that counts.

I really don't think you will have a problem with this. The price will still be the adult price since it is part of the package but your child should easily be able to order off the child's menu but will be charged the adult price.

This shouldn't be a problem. After reading about it here on the Dis I went into Le Cellier May '05 knowing I wanted the chocolate moose for dessert. It was not listed on the adult menu I received, so asked the waitress about it. She told me it was only on the kid's menu, but said I could have it if I wanted to, which I did.

Thank you aubriee! That's the exact dessert I wanted. After seeing it on the dis boards, I am dying to try it. I hope it's as good as it looks. Thanks again! :)
