strict on height?

I guess I'm lucky my gorgeous child has survived this long with me at the helm!!! :teeth: I'm just a rebel, what can I say? Bad parenting hell, huh? Not trying to do me best? You sure formed a pretty fast opinion of me. I don't know, that seems kind of....um....sad.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on my parenting skills, and I'll just have to cancel that babysitting job you asked me to do for you! ;)

By the way, your little girl is a cutie!

Everybody has a right to their opinion. If by allowing my daughter to ride Splash Mountain at 39 1/2 inches I have violated some unspoken mommy code and caused some of you to become enraged by my lack of skills as a parent, first allow me to say :earboy2:, with a closing remark of

I ALSO BOTTLE FED HER!!!

Have a great day! :teeth:

Sure everyone has the right.

What they do not have the right to do is lie about posting history of other disers as you have done me.

Another thing to be aware of is that not all rides measure the same.
Last year , DD7 was probably 47 3/4" tall. We had forewarned her that she would not likely be able to ride RnRc. We had her measured anyways. She was under by a hair. No problem, she understood.
2 days later we were at AK and the CM called her over to be measured for Primeval Whirl (also with a 48" height requirement). I told the CM that she wasn't tall enough but upon measuring her, she had miraculously grown at least a 1/2". She was wearing the same shoes as before. Not only was she tall enough at the entrance, she easily made the height requirement before loading. (They checked twice.)

I'm going to jump into this thread to remind EVERYONE to please be nice. Seems like there is a lot of good examples of people's experiences here and we would hate to have to shut the thread down.

Thank you!

I have never seen sweet-talk to increase the chances of riding, but all of the sticks seem to be different lengths! It has been pretty frustrating! I had DS4 show too short for a ride when we had just been to the DO for a physical, and I knew he was tall enough. So, I personally would then tell kids I didn't think they were tall enough, but if they measured out ok, they could ride.

Lisa, you tried to flame me on this on another thread (two bites from the same woman....I'm loving this). She lived - she laughed - she enjoyed herself. I would NEVER put my kid in a situation where I was concerned for her safety.

Actually, you DID put her in that exact situation three times. This is not a flame, but a fact.

Violating some "Mommy code"? No. Violating Disney's rules regarding height restrictions which are determined for SAFETY purposes, not to be mean? Absolutely!
And having her ride in your lap all three times? Honestly, where did you EVER get the idea this was a safe or reasonable action??? :confused3

I am the mother of two DS's, one 50" (8y/o)and one 39" (4y/o). We are a family of avid coaster riders who happen to be short! Both of my sons have had to wait longer than many of their peers to ride but we have just handled it really matter of factly. We have said from day one that they have to be the proper heights for the seat belts/safety features to work otherwise they could be hurt. Maybe it is because we are really matter of fact about it but they both have been really patient. There have been a few disappointed faces but those little disappointments are part of life and how they learn. Besides, it can be a good incentive for healthy eating - "if you eat all of that protein and veggies, you'll grow big enough for the rollercoasters!" :)

Here's another reminder to place nice. That's 2 in 2 pages -- now play nice or everyone gets a time out. ;)

Too funny! That is how I got my oldest to eat her meals prior to the magical day she was tall enough.

Now she has 6 inches for Rock N Roller Coaster---I guess it is just too far away for her to be concerned b/c that tactic is no longer working :teeth: .
