Stretch your dollars.....Eat a kids meal!

As for ordering only what you can eat - I totally agree, which is why I sometimes order child's portions, so I'm not wasting food. I like fries with my burger but according to your "logic", I should order a larger burger and forego the fries, which I enjoy and really want, because I'm an adult and the larger burger would fill me up on it's own. Ridiculous...

Exactly! If I am having chicken fingers or a hamburger, I want fries with it without being 1,000 plus calories. Plus, if it is hot as heck I want to nibble on a couple of things.

I have a question for the people who think it is wrong to order a kids meal - does this mean at the grocery store if would be wrong to buy kids aimed products (like cookies or lunchables or soup, etc) and eat them since you are an "adult" and these are made for children? What about if you have a "child" who would like to eat more than a kids meal - would it be wrong to buy them an adults portion or have them eat "adult" oriented food from the grocery store??:rolleyes1

or...

What if a child's t-shirt fits you better than a grown up t-shirt? Is it wrong to buy the child's t...it does cost less...Or what about toys?? Everyone knows toys are made for kids only. Right?

As long as you are paying whatever anyone else is paying for the meal, there should not be anything wrong with it. If a kid buys the meal, disney gets the same money as if you buy the meal. If you do not want to buy a full adult meal and would rather go hungry than do it, than I think disney would be pleased to get the kids meal money out of you. If they did not want to sell it to a non-kid, they would do like TS restaurants do - you would have to have the child with you. I bet if it mattered to them, they would find a way to police it.

i love the idea of being able to order a kids meal as an alternative. my problem is that i was rasied to clean my plate. and i still do even if it makes me feel sick. so a kids meal will solve that problem. and if more of us ordered off kids menu maybe the obesity epidemic of america would be helped. --flame suit on---

I agree with you. I don't think you should have a flame suit on. You spend money, you get a product. The seller wins. You win.

I don't understand the problem. I think it's a little much to toss about words like lying and cheating in regards to ordering a kid's meal. If people think it's lying and cheating to order a kid's meal, what do they think of people that go to the buffet lines more than twice? Where do you draw the line?

Personally, I don't pay attention to what others order or eat. I say live and let live. If Disney had any problems, they would address them.

As I said before, I agree with the both of you.

:offtopic: Also, I've noticed that no matter where you go, the portion sizes just seem to get larger and larger. Example: McD's has a 42oz coke for 69 cents! Who needs that much coke in one sitting? Why can't the small be that much? No, instead the small is $1.00, and the medium is almost 50 cents more.

Now back on topic, wouldn't it be considered "cheating the system" (or whatever you may call it) if 2 or 3 people split that 42oz?

I'm sorry. Buying more food than I can eat is not only a waste of perfectly good food, but I waste of my money. Especially in this economy! I work pretty hard to be able to make ends meet and enjoy special disney times. If it means saving a little money and ordering a childs meal, I will do so. If one of the people there has a problem with it, let them tell me. I won't be offended.

I am however offended that no one seems to believe in "live and let live" as OceanAnnie said. I don't monitor what people eat, therefore I expect others not to. :hippie:

It's good to see so many using common sense instead of being wasteful. If a CS kid's meal is all you're going to eat, end of discussion. The fact that it's 97 with 95% humidity just makes it simpler to understand (even for me, who try to plan around buffets and all you can eats).
Smart move all.

I re-read some of the comments on this thread, and I am still stupidfied that someone could even consider it "cheating" to order from the kid's menu.
At the end of the day, Disney put a value to the amount of food in the meal. You paid Disney fair compensation. End of discussion.
No cheating, no gaming the system. Reach behind your left ear and turn the switch to your brain back on.

:lmao:When I was a child, my brother and I often traveled with our aunt, uncle and cousins on vacation. There was a total of 6 children. My uncle would stop at McD's and pair the children up. Each pair would get a happy meal and an extra burger and an extra cup. We would have to split the fries and the soft drink.

My brother and I were so unused to this as our family only had 2 children and we always got our own meal at a restaurant. But my uncle was now buying for 8 people - including 6 kids!! And as a parent myself, I now totally understand!

Was he cheating McDonalds? They certainly seem to have prospered in the 25 years since that time.:cool1:

ok, stuffing a childs shoes to get them on a ride: safety concern, possible law suit, dangerous and dumb

Lying about yourchild age to get free food: wrong

Buying the amount of and type of food you want to eat: sounds right to me

So I guess under some people's "logic" it is wrong for me to by an uncrustables sandwich from POP's food court with a snack credit and feed it to my DD5 as lunch. I didn't use a CS credit, so I am cheating the system.

Really people, didn't your moms ever tell you if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything?

Does anyone order a double cheeseburger and ask for another bun? This was a popular thread a few years ago?

Lying is lying. Shame on you. :sad2:

Are you actually being SERIOUS???

If you are ..........

How is she lying, Did she say to the server - I am buying a kids meal for my son......and then point at a random child? I highly doubt it!

I always order kids meals - you are paying for the portion of food you receive - so where exactly does lying come into it??

Shame on YOU for making people feel bad about DOING NOTHING WRONG

To the OP - good on you! you are not alone in ordering a kids meal when the adult meals are too big to eat!

of course OP is right,we do it all the time. Some would say the true 'evil':rotfl: is throwing uneaten food away,as many would have to do if we bought a monstrous sized fast food meal. Or even worse (for my diet) I might just have to finish those horrific amounts, and no amount of walking will work that off!:rotfl2:
as to any pp's who consider it 'cheating the system' sorry, but the word 'duh' comes to mind here. :confused3 There is no 'system' except maybe overcharging for vast amounts of food that people mostly don't eat anyway.... if they put an ounce of thought into it.....I love the options we get at Disney, and we always either split adult meals(ooh cheating) or buy kids meals, all of us.
people are so silly about minor things

I glanced at that thread! :rotfl: I'm sure they paid for the extra bun. I thought it was pretty thrifty idea. I never considered it "cheating the (any) system". If Disney didn't want to sell plain buns, they wouldn't.

i was a member of the clean plate club also but i had wls(weight loss surgery) in sept 08 since then i have not had one problem ordering from the kids menu ..i had one lady look at me kinda funny when i asked and i simply stated i had stomach surgery a few months ago and i cant eat alot(i usally take home almost half of a kids meal anyways) i do have a card from my surgern stating i have the 1/3 of the stomach of a normal adult but i havent had to use it. now as for disney i was in line last aug(b4 my surgery and i asked if i could get a side of grapes instead of the fries and i was told from the cm they didnt do side orders of grapes but order the kids meal if you would like we dont mind..so i did)

The last time we ate at the America Adventure in Epcot we ordered a double cheese burger. I remembered that thread from long ago and asked for an extra roll. They gave me one - I do not think we even paid for it. When we sat down we split the burger - took some stuff from the fixings bar and had a great meal. Figured this would leave us some extra room for those wonderful pastries from France.

I can't tell you how many times I really wanted a dessert but was too full to have one. I started scaling back just so if I wanted something sweet, I could have it.

That's good to know about American Adventure. Those combo meals are way too much for us. Even splitting them, food gets wasted and we're full.

i really wish disney would have to post calorie and nutritional info for all meals. i mean mcdonalds has to do it. why doesn't disney?

I agree! Last time we went I gained 4 pounds in a week (!!!!!!!!!!) despite all the walking we did. It took forever to get that back off. I have been on a diet since November, so that was not helpful. :rotfl:

We're going back next week, so I am going to try to really watch what I eat. I know I will still eat some junk, but I *am* going to try to limit it this time! I just hate how when you eat out it is absolutely shocking how many calories a food can be packed with when it doesn't seem like something that should be, you know what I mean? All those little tricks restaurants and fast food does to make the food so tasty can def sneak up on your waistline! I still love to eat it though! heh

I don't think McDonald's "has to" provide nutritional info. They just do.

It maybe a law in some places but not all.

I asked a question about this not too long ago. I wanted to buy Mickey waffles to take back to our resort rooms for breakfast. I asked if I could buy a kids meal, because I want my waffles shaped like Mickey, even if I am 32!

The consensus on that thread seemed to be "Go for it!"

The reason I was concerned enough to ask, though, was that I seem to remember the menu boards saying "Kid's Picks (Children 9 and Under)".

While it doesn't seem like a big deal to me for an adult to order a child's menu, if the posted "rule" says 9 and under, I could see why some would see this as an issue - after all, don't we debate the posted rules about mugs, line jumpers, pools, and etc. endlessly around here?

Maybe it says that to coincide with the kids DDP. Meaning that if you have the kids DDP, you could only get those "picks" for your 9 and under child as part of the kids DDP.
