Stressed

Ok, I am going to be getting married on Oct. 2nd, YAY! We have been together for over four years so it is about time. I have a five year old from a previous relationship and we have a 18 month old daughter together. Thats not why I'm stressed.

Does anyone else know anything about temporary aganecies?

Well my fiancee has worked for one for about 20 months, I think. He has been at the same company the entire time. Well they are now going to hire him in permanently. YAY!

SO why am I stressed?

Here's why.

He starts working second shift next week:( which is really OK. But he was informed he will be on a 90 day probation period. Which I suppose is normal too. Like I said he has worked ther for going on 2 years as a temp. he missed 3 days total that entire time and twice were excused (our daughter's birth and she was hospitalized at 2 months) he was sick the third day. Anyways, they say he can not miss more than one day during his probation time, which ends Oct 25th.

Now that is why I am stressed, we have our honeymoon booked at WDW for Obt 8th-11th, which would mean missing two days...his new boss said he'll see what he can do but Fiancee is worried the people in human resources will only see him as a number and not care about our honeymoon. Which is reasonable in some ways, but IT IS OUR HONEYMOON! I am so sad. I don't know what I'll do if we can't take our honeymoon.

Sorry I had to vent and wasn't sure where to do it.

Is it possible to change your dates? I might check into that 1st. Sorry you are so stressed but at the same time Congrats!

I have never heard of any reasonable company not allowing a newlywed to go on their honeymoon, esp. if it was paid for and booked before they became employed.

TBH, unless he is desperate for work, he should really give serious thought to what it would be like working for a company that would make him choose between staying employed or missing his honeymoon.

Thanks.

I am not as worried about the resort, I guess. But We bought non-refundable airline tickets, so we'll be out $500. I guess if we have to, we have to. It just sucks that we are this close and I've done so much planning.

Also we aren't paying for anything else (tickets resort, food) It is our wedding gift from his parents. So I'm not sure how it would affect them.

I would not take the $500 loss. If he sits down and explains the situation any reasonable boss would give him a break.

I mean it is not like he is missing several weeks, he's missing two days? Right?

I can not even imagine working for a boss who would not make some sort of effort to allow me to go on a pre booked vacation, esp. a honeymoon. Esp. if he has worked there for years as a temp is proven to be a good employee who shows up on time and does not take days off for no reason.

I know of many companies(especially in manufacturing) that if you miss work in their probation period you are gone. Period.

My sister works for Kelly Services placing people and she said that it would be best to get written confirmation if they will allow the time off, otherwise you should plan to reschedule your trip.

No sense in jeopordizing his position and financial security over $500. Good Luck. I hope they will give him the ok.
