I need a little support right now. Tuesday was not the best day I have ever had. I knew I was getting weighed at night so I really was careful about what I ate but the day before one of my co-workers bought lunch. I had a salad and a large roll. Well that started the bread cravings and Monday night was not too good. For the I went over points by two.
When I got weighed in on Tuesday, I only lost .5 lb.

To make matters worse, during the day Tuesday, the office of homeland security raised the terror warning to orange. That really brought my stress level up. We're heading to WDW in the middle of June and I have to get on a plane! Normally planes are just OK-I'm not a big fan but they can get us from one place to another quickly.
I admit I am a stress eater but so far I have been able to resist over eating but I haven't been able to motivate myself to journal. I know I have to just get over it and I will but it takes some time.

What can I do in the meantime?

put it behind you, it's the past. Focus on the future. Start over tomorrow and treat it like the gift that it is and don't even think once about or feel guilt about what happened yesterday, or the day before, etc.

We all slip-up. Go read my journal, I have ups and downs. So that was a down. Tomorrow will be an up!

Read the boards when the cravings hit, lean on us!

What else do you like to do to de-stress? Read a good book? Play a computer game? Take a walk?

C'mon you can do this! We'll do it together. (I had a couple bites of a cheesecake dessert I made for school today which can lead to disaster if I let it - together we will overcome these hurdles!)

I agree with Ohmom, just put it behind you...Tomorrow is another day and you will be back on track!! I think losing .5 of a pound is awesome!! I haven't lost ONE SINGLE pound in 2 weeks!!! Talk about frustrating! Please don't give up, we are all here for you!! :):)

Hugs!

I doubt that the 1 roll you had contributed to you not losing anymore weight then you did!! Don't be so hard on yourself.

You mentioned journaling. I can't tell you how much this has helped me. I did not realize what I was putting in my mouth and then once I started writing it down- it came as a big shock!! I know it's hard to remember to do it, but once you get started you can't stop! I feel funny sitting down to eat if I don't have my little notebook right there by me so I can write down what I'm eating..

When you're depressed or frustrated it's a great idea to come to these boards and read or vent- what ever you have to do to keep on track. People here understand wat you're going through and are very helpful in these situations. Use music to calm yourself and turn off the news. Reading fitness and health magazines keep the health on the fromnt burner too!

You'll be ok! Don't worry about it. What's done is done- can't do anythoing to change it now can you??? So just let it go. Tomorrow is another day!

I only lost .5 lb

It's a LOSS!!!! C'mon what could be better than that!! You didn't stay the same or put any on.

You know what your triggers are, which puts you one step ahead of the game straight off. Try meditation for stress. I hate flying and I get a mild sedative from my doctor when I have to fly and then start a little mantra (usually - the plane will not crash and I will not die - lol) Seriously tho' if you do a little yoga, even if it's just practising controlling your breathing, it works wonders at beating down those stress triggers.

Write yourself a message, RIGHT NOW!!! Make a new committment to your plan. Tell yourself you don't NEED all that bread or anything that will put you over your points for the day!

Pack your lunch, make your dinner ahead of time. Brush your teeth after every meal. Paint your nails, even if it's just a coat of clear polish. Look in the mirror, take a deep breath and look yourself in the eye. Tell yourself that you AREN'T the kind of person who lets a terror level change get to her! Remind yourself of the confidence and feelings of joy and freedom you had before the terrorist attack. Take back those feelings and honor them! The threats are almost as powerful as the actions, but you can't let a "threat" keep you down or hold you back!!!

You've gotta take some time to psych yourself out, really get pumped up about your plan and your weight loss. Kind of like, "Am I am man or a mouse?" I remember after 9/11 I went really loopy and felt so scared of everything. The one day I said, "What the??? This isn't me! I never felt like this before? Why I am perpetuating this feeling of anxiety, insecureness, fear?" So I picked myself up and dusted myself off and reached way inside me for that fearless spirit that I knew I had.

You can do it!!!! Look for ways to motivate yourself every day! Focus on things that make you feel happy!!! The only thing we have to fear is fear itself!!!!! Now up and at 'em!!! :)

Hang in there, Zoo Keeper. Go for a walk to relieve some of the stress & start over today. Everyone has bad days. The key is to get back on the healthy track. We know you can do it!!!!!!:p

Hang in there! What everyone said is so right....gotta love this place...the people are so helpful! :)

Stress is so hard to deal with, especially when you can't turn to food...but instead try doing other things, walking, reading, take a nice bath.....find ways to keep your mind away from the things that trouble you.

I know you can do it! Be strong and know we are here for you!

Don't get anxious about this or it will cause more stress and you'll end up going off plan again.

Like everyone else said, journal- and also plan the night before or in the morning what you are going to eat for the entire day. Substitute some of your stress foods with other foods. I've been eating a lot of carrots lately cuz I like to crunch when I'm stressed.

I do agree with the carb thing though, try to stay away from the rolls. I find that it's not the roll that makes me gain, but the carbs attract the bloat fairy and I'll either lose slower or gain.

Don't worry about the plane ride, it's something you cannot control and if anything Airports will be safer because the security will be even tighter. It might take you longer to get through, but it will be worth it!

Good luck!

So you're stressed. And you overate (2 points? Did you have any "left over" points from the week? You can go over one day if you 've been under for another). But you STILL lost! Ok, so .5 lb doesn't sound as good as 1 lb or 5 lbs, but it is still a victory. Obviously you are doing something right.

You can do this. You are doing it. Now get back in there and knock 'em dead next week! ;)

I hope you are feeling better today.
YOU CAN DO IT!
Time to pick yourself up now - and move on again.:D

I have to agree with everyone else that has responded. That was a different day and we have to focus on today. Have you read the daily inspiration for today (22nd), it fits right in.

I also agree that to journal is a great thing. If anything goes in your mouth, record it and figure the points. It is amazing how just a little of this or a little of that adds up in points. It may help you realize what you are eating that you might be able to cut out. I was having trouble eating within my points and staying hungry. I examined what I was eating and I wasn't eating enough protein items, so I am trying to change that and so far the hunger hasn't been as bad.

We are all some type of "eater" whether it is stress, being bored, social, etc. Once you figure that out, just make sure you have some "safe" snacks that you can use in place of some other foods.

Please don't get yourself so stressed about flying. I think we all get a little nervous about flying at times. We flew out 10 days after 9/11 and had to assure our children we would be fine. Security is much tighter now and even though you may have longer lines, you will be fine.

I hope you are feeling better today.

Thanks everyone! I really needed all those kind words and thoughts. I have felt a sense of friendship and support all day.
I am feeling better today... and I know I am under points today

Unfortunately I can't get out and walk today (or yesterday for that matter) It's cold and rainy here but a hot bath sounds great.

I absolutely know that at nights when I get all stressed out I need to come upstairs and log onto the boards before opening the cupboard. Reading, posting and replying has really helped me avoid the fridge. The boards and General Hospital on Soapnet at night;)

I haven't journaled for the day yet but I did send myself an e-mail from work with what I ate (so maybe that is journaling)

Thanks again... you got me over it. (I'll probably post again about the stress from flying when I get closer)

Thanks so much:)
Sue

Sue, I'm so glad you're feeling calmer and more in control tonight!

I can't add anything that our friends haven't already offered, except to expand on this one thing: You know you're a stress eater. The food probably calms and comforts you. Rather than avoiding food, do be sure to keep "safe" snacks on hand. I find 0 point vegetables with lots of crunch very satisfying. Tonight I crunched on a bowl of sugar snap peas when I got home from work. It might sound weird, but I just rinsed them off, threw them in a bowl, and ate them in front of the television. Pretty tasty, and it finished my fruit/veggie points for the day. I also like carrots for this...
