Street takeover tonight at Disneyland hit and run

While walking to the hotel from the parks at Disneyland Dr and Karelia there was a hit and run from three cars racing just 20 minutes later a whole street intersection takeover. Destroyed the drive in gate at best western Stovall. You had families walking back from the park. Horrible and selfish, stupid and dangerous. Cops took way too long. 17 minutes from the first call.

Last time we went ,there were people at the Art stops that had old school ghetto blasters playing gangster wrap, cussing right and left. I nicely explained that there are kids here waiting for the bus and that's not really appropriate. They tried to goad me into a fight because of it. I talked to the police outside Disneyland where the busses drop you off about it and all I got was "Welcome to California"

Their hands are pretty much tied and there is nothing they can do. There is almost zero prosecution for anything unfortunately so they dont even respond.

What crime was being committed? Honestly it's your responsibility to keep your kids away from things you don't want them to hear. You were the instigator in this situation.

What exactly is a "street intersection takeover"?

It's when a group of Street Racers in their tricked out cars effectively close off an intersection by gathering in the streets, blocking traffic. It is illegal and the police will break it up, but it happens VERY quickly and often the race happens before police can respond. It's an annoying aspect of Southern CA car culture. It happens mostly VERY late at night. Usually well after midnight. Their goal isn't to cause accidents, it's to avoid them by doing this late enough that there aren't cars on the road. Sometimes, 2 or 3 cars will just pill donuts in an intersection or rev their engines annoyingly. It's really stupid.

There are a lot of long straight roads with high speed limits here and those are the ones they tend to "takeover."

That's awful. When people say there is no bubble at Disneyland Resort, this is a good example of the fact that there most definitely is.

Safety issues that we need to be aware of nowadays because of overcrowding and No Control of crowds can be serious .
Disney had the ability once upon a time .

Well if that is true then I’m surprised it made the news.
I assumed close to Disney property was a factor that made it newsworthy.

They were doing donuts with people hanging out the passenger window, kids were trying to get as close as they could with the cars.
Families were trying to cross to the hotels and couldn’t because they were in the crosswalks and then gun it down the street without looking.
They did a hit and run at the intersection ten minutes before the takeover while we were in the crosswalk. I was surprised they still did the takeover because I thought the cops would already be on the way for the hit and run.
Crimes commited: hit and run, destruction of private property, endangerment to pedestrians, speeding, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, illegal fireworks, blocking and impeding the flow of traffic, and too many more to list.
Need I go on or is the other poster going to ask what crimes are being committed?

I was responding to a nonsensical post about overcrowding in the parks and asking what it had to do with my response to ANOTHER response about ART bus stations in Anaheim.

I was not excusing anyone's bad behavior. Although I wouldn't call playing rap music bad behavior, but if YOU do, then I guess I'm "just as bad" because I like gangsta rap.

Playing rap music and cussing are not crimes, and her response regarding this was not directed towards you nor did it have anything to do with the street racing you were talking about. DLgal was talking to another poster, which often happens in these message threads.

I have to admit that I don't like loud swearing around kids, but I'm not going to get into it trying to school people on what is or isn't appropriate for kids to hear in a public place. However, I can understand finding it in bad taste and I'd probably frown a lot

Yes, the poster who confronted a group of innocent people waiting at a bus stop who were playing rap music (which is not a crime) was an instigator. He is lucky those people didn't engage back.

That's horrible and so dangerous. I see cops in the area a lot so it's crazy that it took so long to respond. Must have been a busy night. Yikes.

Never been to Disneyland but we are going this June. Staying at the Grand Californian, is this something we may have to deal with? Not the music lol, I couldn't care less about that. I'm talking about crossing the streets with the possibility of a "take over".
