Do they give you straws with yiour drinks at WDW restaurants? My MIL said that years ago, there were no straws to be found in the parks. Do kids cups come with lids and straws?
The straw thing at AK is the same as what we have run into at the Atlanta Zoo. Straws can seriously harm the animals so they prohibit them. If you have a child at that age (oh how I remember it) where he/she insists on a straw, so what I did, bring your own but be conscientious about it. Some of the cups that you get at restaurants now have those accordion type stretchy ones. I would carry one of those or one from McDonalds wrapped in the paper in my bag. Other solution would be a sippy cup with the snap on lid with the perforations. I found that the kind with th pop up soft straws are aweful with soda, the bubbles cause it to leak everywhere.
At Animal Kingdom, you can also buy a topper for a 20 oz bottle of pop (or water I would assume). It screws on the top and has Mickey with his safari outfit on and has a long, rubbery, plastic straw that you can rinse and keep for a souvenir. That helped keep our 2 yo from spilling.
We have seen people take straws into AK and AKL but in general it is discouraged. Any of the other parks and resorts will be happy to provide you with all you need.
