Just FYI, they are the biodegradable paper ones. My 4 year old would chew them and get paper in her mouth. We used a tumbler with a straw most of the time.

Glad they are using the biodegradable straws, the plastic ones are evil in the ocean. I think I'll have a Tervis tumbler for non-dining room drinking, though.

I would recommend bringing a tumbler w/ straw of some sorts for everyone in your party including the little ones.

We were on the Dream earlier this month and I could have sworn the straws were plastic.

Maybe it depends where the ship is sailing??I know Alaska has very strict rules regarding cruise ships.

I've only been on the Dream and Fantasy so far, but both have had regular plastic straws.

I've never seen anything other than plastic straws on all 4 DCL ships. As someone else pointed out, perhaps it's specific to Alaska, as I've never been there.

When we sailed on the Wonder last fall the straws were paper in Cabanas (do not remember about the drink stations).
