Just FYI, they are the biodegradable paper ones. My 4 year old would chew them and get paper in her mouth. We used a tumbler with a straw most of the time.
Glad they are using the biodegradable straws, the plastic ones are evil in the ocean. I think I'll have a Tervis tumbler for non-dining room drinking, though.

I've never seen anything other than plastic straws on all 4 DCL ships. As someone else pointed out, perhaps it's specific to Alaska, as I've never been there.
