Please tell me what would happen if I were to ask for a straw at Whispering Canyon Cafe, I'm kinda shy and want to know what to expect.

The neat thing about this place is you never really know what you are going to get...just be prepared for ALOT of attention to potentially be drawn to you. Its all in good fun and a great atmosphere. :thumbsup2

We have always been given straws with our drinks and never had a problem with that. Other tables have so it all depends on your server. Just be ready to have fun. Depending on your server, you probably won't be the only one who is called out.

If you simply must know in advance, check out the video at the bottom of this page on my website:

Just keep in mind that they don't do this routinely -- if it was routine, it wouldn't be good. Most of the things that folks have reported "happening" when they ask for or do something at Whispering Canyon have never happened for us. It is different every time. These are human servers, not machines. :)

We didnt get the straw treatment but we did get the ketchup act as I eat ketchup on practically everything so I had to have it....Also I am not a dancer, when I was in college I never danced at the clubs, didnt dance in New Orleans, Didnt even dance at my wedding but I was forced up with all the other men to do a dance to a familar song....hint....I'm a little teapot.....Just go dont be shy....you will never see these people again.....plus its Disney and you are not the only one looking like and idiot...LOL.. :rotfl:

We've had dinner there twice and loved it - we never asked for straws, but both times, after our drinks were served, the server threw a big handful of straws at the table - DD was very amused by this! :sunny:

Bicker - I tried to play your video, but after it downloaded, it played the RnRC preshow instead. Is there another link? The link I clicked on said something about Whispering Canyon VCD

One year we were there I said that I was vey Thirsty, so the waiter brought me a bucket of water and a very long straw. Now, last November we were there kind of late, and it was very boring. I was so dissapointed.....over the other years we had been there and it was a blast. Moral of this story.....don't go to Whispering Canyon late in the evening!!!

We ate there for breakfast twice on our honeymoon in October. Once was the day-after brunch with the whole family and when the server found out we had gotten married at WL the day before she called us up to the front, then another server brought up a newly engaged couple, and another server brought up a couple celebrating their 10-year anniversary. Well, they made us dance and DH does not dance and hates to be the center of attention but he totally played along and it was hilarious! Then they had us each compete in a kissing contest, which I am proud to say we won :teeth: When someone at our table asked for ketchup, well we got plenty of ketchup! Everyone's drinks came with straws, so that was not an issue but the cups were HUGE and the straws were like a foot long. If you drink everything in one of those giant cups they will point it out to the whole restaurant. It was a ton of fun - even my 76 year old aunt loved it, and she hates everything :rotfl:

What does happen when you ask for Ketchup?

I have heard so many mention this, but i still don't know what happens.

My DH has ketchup with everything  . He also gets really embarrssed, so we would want to know if this restaurant is OK.

Thanks

when you ask for ketchup, your server will yell loudly for the entire restaurant to hear. Then people will come running from all over with bottles and bottles. We ended up w/ at least a dozen at our table. Next time someone needs it, you go running over with yours to theirs. Lots of fun and the kids love it.

As for straws, we were there 2 weekends ago. Our server was the famous, wonderful Bobby the Kid. Asked for straws, he turned around, "sneezed" and a handful came flying over his back onto my little guy's plate. He loved it and spent the next 20 minutes opening each one and blowing the wrappers off at us.

I've never been to RnRC, so that couldn't've been mine. :)

I just checked it myself -- worked fine.

Try this direct link:

Okay, I tried it again and this time it worked. I know we have listened to the RnRC preshow recently. Maybe it was still in Real Player and just started up playing. Earlier though, I definitely clicked on the link in your post, scrolled down past the pictures to the link for the Whispering Canyon. That was weird. Anyway, enjoyed the video. We've never ate there before and was considering going on our next trip.

We went the first time by mistake after getting on the wrong bus. Ended up at WL, were hungry and went in. There were two other tables with diners--the rest were empty. Very quiet. We ordered, then looked around. There was an elderly lady with a bandana on her head. OK....then we saw the other table had about 15 bottles of ketchup. Man...they must really like ketchup. My husband asked for a straw and the waitress pulled out about 40 and threw them in the center of the table. We were wondering what kind of Disney service this was! Then the place filled up and the pony races started and we realized where we were. :rotfl2:

When we ate there our waitress flung about 50 straws at DH & I. It was hilarious. They made one guy in his 50's "ride" a pony around the room singing "You are my sunshine". Nothing exciting (other than the straws) happened to us, which was fine. We liked watching the action.

We ate there just last week - we are truly missing Disney now! :(

Anyway, we loved it...nothing major happened other than everyone asking for Ketchup. Not at our table, though! Our 10 year old is too shy when it comes to that...ironic that she likes to stare at herself in the mirror, though :rotfl2:

I would definitely go back there - even if it was only for the cornbread! Yummmmmmmmmm

I wonder if they ship.......

Thanks for the video, Bicker! I was debating if my ADR I made for WC was a mistake..but after watching the video I just gotta be part of that action!

Thanks for the video. We made ADR for Whispering Canyon. My DH and kids don't know what kind of things happen there. I can't wait to see their faces.

We were there last year when my DS turned 18 and the waiter MADE HIM ride around on one of those "stick horses" with a million little kids like age 5-10 with him!! My DS looked ridiculous BUT we never laughed so hard in our lives..here he is so much taller than the little kids and holding that stick horse and laughing his a** off as he is going all around the whole restaurant. It was great fun. At another table, they set up a wooden CHEF on a seat at the table...not sure why they had to look at that through their whole meal but that wooden CHEF was hysterical looking. And of course someone requested ketchup and they got 20 bottles all coming at them like a stampede all at once. GREAT GREAT FUN!!! :lmao:
