Strategy ?

I will have one day, maybe 2 to take my dad to WDW. We are visiting my son who is a cast member and using CM passes, so no advance FP+. My dad gets around well, no problems there, but I want to show him the newest and best. He hasn't been to Disney in at least 10 years and probably won't go again - He did say he wants to ride Soarin, but other than that he's ok with whatever. I for sure want to take him to FOP, but we will likely be blocked out of HS, so GE is out (unless they change the CM blockout dates - they already have once). Any ideas on the best way to see the best of the best in MK/EP/AK in as short as time possible? Oh yeah - it will be either Nov 2nd or 3rd - which would be best? HELP!!

I’d do AK one day and MK followed by Epcot on the next.

Assuming CM passes allow hopping, I'd start one of my days in EP and be headed out of EP around 3:00 or 4:00 when W/S will be getting crazy with F&W guests. Start at Test Trak and Mission Space, then head to Soarin'. The line at Soarin' doesn't build as quickly as it used to.

I'd start my other day at MK and stay until you've had all you want of the nostalgia of it. That could be all day.

For the evenings, since you're stuck with same day FP anyway, why not let that make your decision as to when and where you go? If you can get a FP for FoP late in the day of your first day (unlikely, but you never know), then you know you're going to AK. If you can't, there's always a chance you'll get one for Slinky Dog or something in HS. I wouldn't rule out HS. If he's a Star Wars fan at all, the nighttime spectacular is really fun and really well done.

However, with this plan, you will miss something. You'll either miss HEA at MK or SWS at HS. You'll want to spend one of the evenings in AK because Pandora is better at night, and without a FP, you can always get in line near closing and be guaranteed a ride. Your only other option for a low-wait FoP without FP is to go at rope drop. Unfortunately, you're going just after they finish the early EMH and you won't know how they're going to handle opening at AK. They may go back to opening earlier than posted time and letting the crowd back to Pandora and they may not. You'd have to be at AK at least an hour before opening either way to be at the front of the pack.

He gets around well but would he (or you) be up for an early rope drop?

Are you staying onsite to get access to EMH?

Ahhh...I thought it ended on the 31st. Yeah this might change my suggestion, if they are in a position to take advantage of it.

CM's are not blocked out of HS right now, it was released. ROTR doesn't open until Dec, so I think you will be ok on a CM pass to get into HS in Nov.
