We made our first on-site WDW trip last year, and thanks to ya'll it was AMAZING! This September I need some strategy advice. I will be attending a convention Wed - Fri, checking out Saturday morning. Staying at Marriott World Center. Company will pay for family to go. Planning on checking into monorail resort Saturday - Wednesday (this part on my dime). Would like to have access to theme park tickets for first part of week, as there is lots of free time during convention. Should I book a package and purchase only a one day ticket (so I can also book dining plan) and buy a 10 day ticket separately? Will I have two cards to carry instead of one key/tickets/dining credits etc? Is there any easier way to do this?

Your help last year was awesome. Counting on it again this year.

THANKS!

Yes, with your plan you'll have to use 2 cards, unless perhaps the check-in CM can put what's left on your 10 day ticket to your room card; I've never done that, so I don't know if its possible, sorry.

I usually have seperate tickets and room cards and don't find it a problem. I give out the room cards and keep everyones ticket myself. And I don't get packages, I either use DVC or try for AAA or AP discounts.

Your trip sounds great, have fun!

You can't get the DDP until you check-in to your WDW resort on Saturday - so if you and the family are planning to hit the parks Wed-Fri, your best bet may be to get 8-day tickets (why did you want 10-days?) right off the bat ...

If you do a quick calculation, you may find out that the price of the one day
(3-day?) tickets for Wed-Fri will exceed the "savings" you may get with the Dining Plan over the 4 nights (Sat-Tues) you'd be staying on-site ... It depends on how many of you there are, where you plan to eat, etc. :teacher:

The cost difference between an 8- and 5-day WDW ticket is minimal ...

Also, remember - the DDP is for the # of nights you are at the WDW resort (not days ...)

... Mom just called - gotta run ... :worship:

Anything else?

Great points. Money isnt really the issue with the dining plan - its just the convenience. Thanks for the thoughts
