Hypothesis: the first week of September 2019 will not be overrun with SWGE tourists like some imagined but instead will be the single most magical week at WDW for the next several years.

Hear me out.

First, everything is open. DHS opens Galaxy’s edge on August 29th. Epcot starts hemorrhaging attractions on September 8th, which will continue all fall. Everything will be officially open at Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom will only have the railroad closed, DHS will have no rides closed for refurbishment, and Epcot will only have Oh Canada closed. Not only does that mean more to do, all that capacity means shorter lines.

Second, no one else will be there. You can get a Fastpass right now for 7DMT for any day that week that doesn’t have a MNSSHP. Epcot has Test Track Fastpasses in the 9AM hour 5 out of 7 days and morning FP every day for all three headliners. DHS has FP before 10:30 AM for every ride in the park except SDD every day. And the first 2 weeks of September were included in the fall free dining offer despite already having been included in the summer free dining offer.

And not for nothing but you can get most Disney Springs hotel rooms with EEMH benefits for under $100.

Don’t forget Food & Wine.

Finally, the park hours are going to be bananas. 6-7 AM openings, late closings at DHS, and late evenings at Epcot on the weekends (plus evening EMH).

The stories about how it’s Disneyland all over again should be ready to go. Only this time it’ll feel like business as usual 2 weeks later with greater attendance, Blizzard Beach closed, and Future World unnavigable (which, of course, is when I’m going).

If I could rebook right now I would. If you can squeeze in a last minute trip. GO!

There are no late evenings at Epcot when we'll be there (6-9th) or EMH. I think anyone going that week and expecting low crowds is going to be very disappointed.

I agree with you. We will be there with you, September 4-14 and no way do I expect low crowds.

So we are potentially crazy by going August 28-Sept 2 (we are not going to Hollywood Studios at all)...I am hoping that people intentionally are avoiding the SWGE opening and it will not be as insane as feared. But who knows??

Its just impossible to tell at this point. If you plan on avoiding HS then maybe it will be glorious at the other parks between people avoiding due to GE opening and everyone that is there will be at HS. But honestly who knows?

I think the long hours may be fun but I'm not counting on smaller crowds, though I hope you're right. We're there Aug 31-Sept 6 and are looking forward to it even if there is total madness at HS. We are going to be a part of it and will make the best of whatever happens.
