Strategy for getting more Fastpasses more often

Thank you. However, I hope to never be that desperate to have to use this strategy to get on a WDW ride. :scared:

tekmom: I'm seriously confused :confused3 Most posts are saying two hours +- for another fastpass. Are you saying that your slip said you could try for another FP at 9:08 and then that one said you could get another 30 minutes later? If you try for a FP and it is not available, is there any penalty? I ask because I think I would just try to get one as I pass each ride if they are busy but obviously wouldn't do that if it meant waiting even longer. TIA. Brenda

You just have to read them when they come out of the machine....when we were there the FP for Lights Motors, didn't "count"...they had no effect on your other passes. Not the case with any other attractions I am aware of. Of course, that could change, but in June, even when it was busy, they were not filling the stadium....the capacity is large.
Otherwise, you just check the bottom of the FP to see when you can get the next one. No penalty for trying early. You just get a slip that says it isn't time yet. And, of course, those slips are worthless. I saw so many folks trying to use them....it's clearly stated, but some folks just don't understand. The process is really quite simple. Once you start using it, you'll understand. The link, while interesting, makes it seem complicated. I have never been that obsessive I guess to try every 20 minutes when my pass gives me a very specific time for the next one.
Also, it's true that you can never be too late to return for your FP (same day, of course), but you can be too early.....the FP says return "after".....that's direct from DD who was a CM for 9 months as well as many other CM's at attractions in all 4 parks.

Simply put... you DO NOT have to wait 2 hours to get another fast pass UNLESS your current fast pass window is over 2 hours away.

Translation.... You can get another fast pass for any attraction as soon as the return time on your current fast pass arrives. and then another when the window on that fast pass opens...

So... scenario.. you arrive in the park for EMH.. it is 8 am. You head over to Splash mountain... You get a fast pass... the return time is 9 am. You hop on the standby line and ride since that line will be short... when you get offr the ride it is now 9:05 am. You can now pick up another fast pass.. so.. get one for Big Thunder.. the return time for that will be about 9:20 this early in the am. Soooo hop on the line for Big Thunder.. when you get off it will be after 9:20.. guess what you can get another fast pass... so.. either get another for either of these rides.. or head over to another favorite fast pass attraction and grab one. You are now holding 3 fast passes and it isn't even 9:30 yet! This works very well.. I have done it over and over again... I have collected fast passes for every ride I do in the morning.. then head out of the park.... go take a swim.. and when i come back to the park in the evening I just go and use all my fast passses... One after the other.. no lines.. no muss... no fuss... Just lots of fun! Very easy to do with just one person or 2.. When you have a whole family following you around... it might be more difficult.. but NOT impossible...

So.. I hope I haven't confused the issue more.. and clarified it a little better!

Thanks CarolB. It's also good to know that we can go anytime after the designated time. We've been many times but always on the off-season and I guess I'm a little nervous about this year, given we are going T'Day weekend and might possibly try a park then, and the new rides I'm hearing (Soarin) that have 3-hour waits :confused3 There is nothing in this world I'd wait 3 hours for, is there????

The next fastpass availability time is printed on you ticket, very small on the bottom. At MGM I went to lights motor action and got fastpasses at 9:00 and I obtained 4 more fastpassses at 9:08 for TOT, 30 mintes later I got 4 more for Rockin roller coaster, so I was carrying around 12 fastpasses by 10 am. Also, if you don't make it back in your time frame window, printed on the ticket, you can use it anytime later that day.... a cast member gave us fastpassess with expired window times and told us we could use them later and we did. :flower:

WOW!! 12 FP!! On my next trip, I am going to try to get at least 3 in my hands! Sometimes it's wasting our time sitting around or walking around or just eating around until our FP kicks in. FP is so you don't have to wait in line for so long. But if you have to wait for 2 hours so what else can you do, but sometimes to get on a different ride that says wait time 60 minutes, so you still have to wait no matter what. I hope I didn't confuse you guys.

Thanks to these boards, I learned so much about fastpass strategies and the parks....but I was shocked to see so many people waiting on long standby lines. We even met some people on the busses who didn't even know what a fastpass was. We also met many people who didn't know the park closing hours. For instance, one afternoon at the MK bus stop to AKL a family was waiting with us. They were staying at all stars, but wanted to take our bus to akl, to then go to AK park. It was 5:50 pm on a non extra magic evening day. I told them that AK closed in 10 minutes and showed them the park hours sheet. They were disappointed but luckily found out before they got on our bus. Between that and the people not using fastpass, I was shocked.

I still am trying to convince my mom that you can use the FP even if you are not staying in a Disney Resort (which I insisted on anyway...but mom says they couldnt use FP last Spring 2003, because they stayed offsite!!)

When I was at WDW in March (during spring break) the fastpasses had two times printed on them - the window for returning for the ride, and a time when you could get another fastpass. It was usually less than an hour from the time when I got the first fastpass. Also, the cast members did tell me that the fastpasses could be used any time the same day until park closing, as long as it was after the original return time. There is no need to wait for two hours to get another fast pass, unless things are extremely busy and that's what time it says on the pass that you can get another. Just read the fast pass, and you will be fine.
