I just heard on the MouseTunes podcast that the new Monsters Inc Laugh Floor in Tomorrowland seems to be starting public previews. I would LOVE to get in for one of these, and we'll be at WDW 12/16-23. Does anybody have suggestions on the best strategies to get into this sort of soft opening? Hang out in Tomorrowland a lot and just see when it seems to be open? Ask every CM I can? Check at Guest Services? Any suggestions are welcome. :teeth:

This is the first I've heard of a Monster's Inc. attraction in MK, it's in Tomorrowland.....where'd they put it, I was just at MK the end of September...I don't remember seeing anything being built??? :confused3

I would love to see this too! We'll be going 1/2-1/7 and figured we'd have to wait until the next trip to see this. Would love to hear everyone's suggestions.

When DW and I were in EPCOT in oct. for Food&Wine they were doing soft openings for the nemo ride. We heard they had opened it for an hour early one morning. We always kept an eye on the entrance whenever we were near and after we rode soarin that afternoon we were leaving the land and saw people going in we ran over and got to ride. It takes luck, luck, luck. Ask all the castmembers you can (you may not get much help) but ask anyways and keep walking by every once in a while. They should start doing soft openings with it starting end of January officially. They'll want to see how the que, show, etc. does with live people going through.

We did Fast Track before it was officially open. Basically, all we had to do was show up. We saw people on the actual ride, so we got in line and were able to ride. It wasn't open all day though, just for about an hour in the morning. So, yes, luck plays a large part! Years ago we were staying on-site at the campgrounds and we were able to check out MGM before the park opened - I mean, opened for real, not just open in the morning. A lot was closed, but it was still pretty cool.

It is like a show where you interact with Mike. Kinda like turtle talk (correct me if i am wrong)
IT took the place of the timekeeper attraction so you wouldnt really see anything being constructed outside.

We got in to see it on Dec. 1, sometime in the afternoon (around 3:30 or so, as I remember). We were just crossing the bridge into Tomorrowland when some cast members starting calling out that the Comedy Club was about to do a test run, so we went on in.

It is not nearly as interactive as Turtle Talk with Crush but a few people do get to minimally participate. It is a 15-20 minute show featuring 3 sets of comedians, hosted by Mike from Monsters, Inc..

After the show, someone from Imagineering polled the audience, asking us to raise our hands on how much we liked the various acts/particular jokes. This took about 5 minutes. Then, as we were leaving, the cast members handed everyone an Attraction Pass (Magic Kingdom only), which was basically a one-time use fast pass but allowed you to use it at any attraction (we used it for the race cars -- I hate that line!), and it was good until February.

In my opinion, the show was mediocre, but my DS9 and DD7 (who are not really into Monsters Inc) liked it a lot.

Good luck!

Thanks, it's interesting to hear a bit more. :)

By any chance did they explain at all about how they're planning to use cell phone text messaging? There was a piece in a press release in September (related to YOMD) that mentioned this angle, and I'm very curious to see where they're going with this.

Nothing was mentioned regarding text messaging. My sense, however, was that the show is not entirely set yet so this might still surface when it is in final form.
