OK, so those of us who've been here a while have heard the legend of the canned corn. I got one better than that. Yeah, I know...hard to believe. Wait for it....

Animal Kingdom, Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Walking towards Expedition Everest, I saw a sort of large family sitting on a wall and the bench beneath it. In ALL of their hands were FULL SIZE ears of corn. No butter or salt that I could see...just the ears of corn. And they were goin' to town on those things.

So, canned corn is soooooo several years ago. It's full ears now!

And now...it's your turn. Please...try to top this story.

Maybe it is a regional thing but we always have ears of corn for sale at carnivals. A lot of people eat it plain.

It wasn't the type you'd see at a carnival...it was shucked and cleaned like you'd buy frozen at the grocery store.

I know that a lot of carnivals sell the roasted ears, but this wasn't that.

Wow. This is intriguing. When you think about it, an ear of corn is sort of the perfect on the go food. It's got built in handles. It's not going to weigh you down. It is packed with carbs and sugars to give you quick energy. The only problem is consistency. If it's cold it's kind of hard. If you steamed it already, and then had it in a plastic bag for the morning, it's gotta be mushy by afternoon. Plus, you look like a freak eating it, and you might end up with corn teeth in pictures. Were they wearing any University of Nebraska paraphernalia?

I live in Western New York and just a few miles down he road from me we have the Eden Corn Festival http://edencornfest.com/ every year. We know corn around here. Easy to pack up in a picnic bag, just toss it on the grill, husk and all. Then when its done all you gotta do is shuck it, wrap it up in some foil and toss it in a soft side bag that will hold the heat :D

Not exactly what I wanna go thru when I'm on vacation at Disney though :lmao:

Oh yeah...what is this canned corn incident you speak of? lol

Oh man I haven't been to the corn festival in years!! I do love it grilled from the fair though!

popcorn:: so was someone eatting corn from a can? I haven't heard the story.:hyper:

I was sitting by myself at the Sleepy Hollow (?) snack spot in Magic Kingdom eating a funnel cake. A slightly grumpy family sat down at the table next to me.

The mom and dad were arguing about something and the mom proceeded to blow the powdered sugar from the funnel cake all over the dad (and me too;)) and stormed off.:rotfl2:

Of course the strange part is why carry around corn on the cob or corn in a can. Both carry extra weight, either the cob or the can.

Frozen is the way to go. And its a 2for, not only can you eat it, its keeps you cool beforehand.:thumbsup2

Except as far as I know there are no places in AK that serves full ears. They would have had to haul it in with them.

Now I am from Nebraska and I love corn but cold corn...yuck.

Sorry about that! He really ticked me off that day! :rotfl:
