Okay, I get the draw of the original reality show COPS......but do we really need shows about:
1) Parking enforcement officers.
2) Pawn Shops (2 different shows)
3 People who buy the contents of abandoned storage lockers sight unseen.
4) People who buy junk for a living.
5) Behind the scenes at the coroners office

More frightening, shows on new topics I don't even dare post!

People don't even leave their homes any more. They just live voyeuristic lives. Some of those shows are inspiring - like the Biggest Loser - but most can't hold my attention for 5 minutes. I don't need someone else's drama to fill out my day. :lmao:

Those skanky girls that run around in undies and fight all day while drinking..bad Girls Club

Some of those are interesting to watch times and sometimes make you think. I thought VH1's The OCD Project was pretty weird.

I watch Storage Wars because I know the Auctioneers. It is pretty cool to channel surf and scream "Hey, I know that man on tv." But the tech support guy probably thinks I am a nut case. I went to that channel at tech guys directions.

Truthfully, I don't watch much TV.....I mean I DVR my soap opera and when I get a chance if I'm home by myself, I will also pop on the Food Network.

But my husband DVR's quite a bit of stuff and if I'm relaxing in the living room after dinner, more than likely he'll have one of these shows on. Actually, a couple of them ARE kind of interesting. Do we REALLY need a TV show on them, probably not. DH does record Pawn Shops and American Pickers (people who buy stuff out of other people's sheds, houses, etc) These two shows are actually pretty interesting to watch. It's neat to see someone bring in an old piece of history that they found in their attic and see if it's worth something.

My DH absolutely loves Pawn Stars. I mean he gets upset when he misses an episode because he also loves Castle on ABC. I made his day when I showed him how to bring the show up on demand. Now I see that Lifetime is showing it also, reruns of course. I really is pretty interesting and the guys at the shop are real characters.

I kind of like American Pickers but don't race home to see it.

The shows I can't stand are the "Real Housewives" of whereever. YUCK. Also that Bad Girls one. Honestly we only watch TV on Monday evenings and Thursdays. The rest of the week we are usually reading or busy with hobbies. If we do put it on it is usually for the History channel or PBS. I do enjoy me some Antiques Roadshow. :cool1:

My sister's family LOVES Pawn Stars. They go to auctions and flea markets though.

I will admit to loving "Billy the Exterminator" & "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew".;)

I also caught an episode of "Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys" last night. Oh and I watch Logo frequently so I do enjoy the "A List New York". I can't help it.

I don't tape them or anything but if they are on I will watch sometimes. Esp when stuff is in reruns now.

They are not really reality, but more directed events. I have an American friend who lives in London, who was picked to be on a dating show, that was filmed in Amsterdam! they did a follow up in her London flat and the camera guy asked her to take down all British references, as the viewing audience was supposed to think she was in Cleveland. Also, the guy was a loser, showed up stoned and drunk, and the director kept telling which girls to keep their light on and how to answer the questions. A 30 minute show took three long days to film and she did not get to do any sightseeing. They also paid her over 500 pounds and covered her expenses. The show is called "Take me out" and it was filmed for ABC daytime. What a load of crap television!

I think Celebrity Rehab is a strange concept. It seems like you are watching something you shouldn't, someone detoxing is not pretty and it seems invasive to watch it. I have only caught it a couple of times and I feel bad after watching it, it's like a train wreck, you know you should watch but can't look away.

I saw a commercial yest for a show (don't know the name) but it's about people with weird addictions. This promo was for a woman that sleeps with her hair dryer turned on all night and another woman addicted to eating toilet paper :scared1:

I often ponder why we need approx 5 different shows about people who hoard junk in their houses, people who have 17 kids and people who make cake.

I mean, really, why? Is this really that interesting?

We love Cake Boss. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

But I agree about the hoarder shows. They actually just depress me.

They cancelled the cake show I liked. I loved the Ace of Cakes.

I have watched one of the pawn shop shows and I actually found some of the merchandise they showed real interesting. I also like Billy the Exterminator and don't really know why...

Actually, I learn a lot from Pawn Stars. Those experts know an incredible amount of history, most of which I know nothing about.

The coroner's one actually sounds pretty interesting. :scratchin

I like the Pickers show, I started watching it on Netflix, so it's not like I was setting my DVR or tuning into it each week. It's just really awesome to see the stuff they find. It also makes me wondering what exactly my grandfather had in his three storage sheds. I was too young when he died to go through it and actually know what it was worth. I know a lot was given away to friends he worked with, but I doubt they even knew the history of it.

Pawn Stars: kind of interesting to see some of the historical stuff. Again, watched it on netflix. But I only watched a few.

Hoarders: I watched the whole season on netflix. It keeps me in reminder of all the things I don't need to keep. And makes me remember how my mother lived, and how it's played it's part in my family.

All the other reality shows based on people and celebs for drama... Yuck, I can't stand them.

I get a kick out of "Parking Wars" people do the dumbest things when trying to back out of a ticket especially when they are aware that what they did was wrong, but refuse to admit it.

I saw another reality show called "Repossessed" 2 guys travel around to recover rented goods. That was the DUMBEST show!

But my guilty pleasure is "Bad Girls Club" its a total trainwreck! :happytv:

I love American Pickers and Pawn Stars. They're educational, amusing, and drama-free. I hate reality shows with screaming, yelling, crying, crimes, and illnesses (physical and mental).

Aw, I love reality shows. Besides Survivor and Amazing Race, we watch Pawn Stars, American Pickers, several of the Food Network competitions, Deadliest Catch, and So You Think You Can Dance. I used to love Taxicab Confessions, and I enjoyed the Joe Schmoe Show and Joe Millionaire. Anybody remember Mad Mad House? The contestants had to live in a house with people from various alternative lifestyles and compete in challenges that had to do with those lifestyles--there was a vampire, a witch, a modern primitive and a naturist. That one was pretty fun. Also used to watch a bunch of redecorating/remodeling shows like Monster House, Trading Spaces and While You Were Out.

Now there's a new naked reality show coming up that I HAVE to watch, because a close friend is on it. Thankfully it'll be on network TV, so all the naughty bits will be censored. I've known the guy since he was 13, so I'd feel a little awkward if that wasn't the case LOL

Anyway, the ones I hate are the Real Housewives, Jersey Shore genre...I can't stand watching stereotypes being perpetrated.
