Strange questions about Main Street Barber shop

Ok, this might sound weird, but do the stylists do well with layering hair? We'd like to get DD 18 months first haircut, but her hair has some curls, and my mom (previosly a hairstylist) insists that we ask to have it layered so the curls fall nicely. Right now it looks a little crazy because the pieces on top ae too long. So...does anyone know if the sylists take requests like this, or if they mainly trim or do a basic cut.

I know they take requests on the style.
I'm not sure the level of their styling skill (compared to their keep-the-kids-happy skill...which is AMAZING)!
I would think it would depend how still DD sits and also which barber you get.
DS' cut was a little crooked and needed some fixing by us. It was still a great experience, though!

I'm one of the few people who've actually complained (on the boards) about the barber shop, but for DS4 there just wasn't the magic I've read and read and read about. He sat very still and still got a crooked haircut- just a basic little boy haircut- no special request or anything. Then, even though DD6 got ONLY pixie dust and I reqested it for DS they didn't do it. He was soooo ready to leave the chair I didn't make a deal of it. Anyway, I have to say the walk-in place by the mall where DS gets a lollipop afterward is more magical for him!

I'd go back for pixie dust or maybe a gel Mickey for the kids, but I don't think I'll ever bother with another haircut.

Oh, it wasn't busy that day. We had NO wait and the one person who came in after us (came after DD's pixie dust) was seated immediately so that wasn't the excuse. It wasn't a BAD experience and I'm sure "I" was the only one disappointed, but for how "fun" I thought this haircut was going to be it turned out just like any other haircut. DD LOVED her pixie dust.

How much was the haircut? My DS (6) wants to get his hair cut when we go in a couple of months.

Our DS got his first haircut there a few years back when he was 16 months:sad:. He had a ton of curls and they did really well with his hair. His hair was kind of wavy looking when they got finished with it. Sad to see the curls go (they wrapped some up for us to take with us), but it was time. Our older DS got a haircut there also and they made a Mickey on the back of his head and spiked the top and sprinkled it with metallic Mickeys! It was very magical for us. Just watch those metallic Mickeys - our youngest DS kept trying to put them in his mouth:eek:

I think it was $14 or 15 this past December. I know we paid $20 after a large tip (since they did all of the special first haircut stuff). It surprised me that it was cheaper than all of the kid places here (like Snip-its, for example), since usually stuff at Disney is SO expensive!

When we went in Jan 2006, Dh and Ds got haircuts and Dd just had hers styled. Dh wears a "high and tight" crew cut and both ladies working said they could do them. The one lady was a barber in the army. From our experience, they are barbers and I believe the training is different from a stylist. I could be wrong, and if I am someone will let me know, (LOL) but this was our experience.

We paid 20$ with tip for each kid! it was amazing and totally worth it! we would do it again in a heareat! it was magical and awesome!!! and both kids DD and DS came otu with cute little hair cuts!!!
