This may seem strange since most of you own at DVC but we just decided to postpon a trip in September at the Polynesian (we plan on buying DVC this year but are waiting for the balance of our cash to come in :)). Now we are going in November the week before thanksgiving for 9 days because it is just a better time. Teh free food really tipped the scale to the poly before BUT... Now it is about a thousand dollars more then renting points and staying at a 1 bedroom villa.

This is our last trip till we have our own points and most likey we wont travel next year (I am hoeing the be pregnant:)). As far as rooms go I would MUCH rather stay at a 1 bdr villa for sure. I am torn thought about the cloesen of the pool, food, and transportation. I have a 2 year old who will love the pool big time and want a pool that is close but works well for his age.

The polly has all of this right there BUT is small and costs more. I am thinking of BVC but the pool is a way away and how is the transportation. I do like Epcot but most likely we will be in MK the most. We will have a disney sitter for 2 days (4-5 hours each time to cover a catch up nap ans so we can do some reides also )

What do you all think? What would you do in our place, poly or any other villa?

Thanks!

We stayed at Poly on our first two trips then went DVC. I also have a two year old DS. Poly's great for atmosphere and I'd probably stay there off season for a day or two with just the three of us. Crowds can get big. I would more likely stay at DVC OKW(prefered), SSR or VWL. OKW and SSR have playground areas good for a 20 minute 2 yearold work out. SSR has elevators to all the rooms. DS loves pushing buttons. OKW has bigger rooms for when the meltdown starts. Both have washing machines(take a tide pen for stains). Big frigs for milk, juice, fruit, left overs. Pizza can be delivered for when you just can't take them out in public(or the nap schedule is screwed up). I like to UPS little boxes of cereal, fruit chew snacks, cheese and crackers, dryer sheets, bottle of bubbles, diapers(if your not going to grocery store), individual kool-aid packets(8oz bottle size) in one small box at least 3 days before we leave. It'll be at the front desk when you arrive. It's like a gift when you get there. SSR has a toddler water slide, duck fountain and zero entry pool at the main pool. Ask to stay at Springs area to be close. Oh I could go on. We've stayed at OKW 3 days in Jan, VWL 1 day in Jan and just got back from SSR the night before last. Miss it already. Email me direct if you have other questions.

We stayed at the Poly last May used the AP discount, checked in on DW birthday told them so asked for a good rm. Had a great view of the monorail and parking lot. We will never stay there again. If I had to pay the full rate for that rm, it would be bad.

I love the Poly - it is a beautiful resort, and I like to stay there for three nights - but anything more than that and any DVC one bedroom wins hands down.

With a two year old - I would either choose SSR for the wonderful zero entry pool. Or, VWL, for proximity to MK. I would not choose BCV with a child that age. I took my children to BC when they were young, and I spent all my time, running round the huge pool checking on them.

Our last stay at the Poly in 1999 is what caused us to seriously consider DVC. Our family of 6 had two connecting rooms and a bill that would have been a great down payment.

We have enjoyed DVC and the 2BR's ever since.

I hear you. :sunny:

Karrie, you are considering two of our three favorite resorts.

The Polynesian is great for transportation to MK and Epcot. There are three beaches and every longhouse is rather close to one of them for sand play. The zero entry pool is great for toddlers.

BCV isn't as convenient for MK but it is nice to stroll back from the World Showcase after dinner...but the monorail ride back to the TTC and short walk to the Polynesian isn't too shabby either. :sunny:

I disagree about Stormalong Bay since you will have only one toddler. There is a zero entry beach area there and with only one to watch it should be easy. There is also a nice pool right at the villas which is never too crowded but you would need to hold your little one. But that isn't bad is it as all too soon he won't be in your arms.

A one bedroom will give you a washer/dryer which is wonderful as well as a jacuzzi.

I usually wouldn't think of a split stay with young ones but if your little one could cope without a bed midday on moving day, I might try both. :sunny:

Just FYI, I would expect that with F&W going on during early November and Thanksgiving later, you might have some difficulty getting your ressies at BCV.

I am really worried about that too. I have someone checking for me tommorrow first thing...... I am going to do SSR or OKW is Beach club does not work. I am really sold on needing the 1 bedroom for being at Disney 8 days with a 2 year old. I just am really hoping for a BCV to be there...
