My sister-in-law, who is going on our cruise with us. Just emailed me and said she read that we can not take aerosol bug spray. That aerosol is not allowed in Alaska. Is that true? Does that go for all products? Sunscreen, hairspray, lysol spray, etc. ?

Where did she read this?

I'm not sure. The only place she mentioned was Cruise Critic on YT. I wonder if she's confusing it with no aerosol in a Carry On?

That was my thought. And that would be in a carry on to an airplane, not a ship.

I would say she's confusing the Alaska Airlines ban with aerosol cans in general. Or maybe they don't sell anything in that type of can in Alaska but no one searched our luggage looking for them when we boarded the ship in 2011! Have her call DCL and ask.

They do indeed sell things in aerosol cans here. So there is no "ban" in Alaska on aerosol. We are actually BEHIND the curve on most environmental matters up here, not ahead of it.

Edited to add: Maybe she is thinking about bringing bear mace? Because that isn't allowed on flights to Alaska because they (almost always) exceed the size limits allowed.

bumber - she didn't need or want clarification. "I" did. That's why "I" asked. And "I" asked what is supposed to be a good source of Disney/Alaska cruise information. If you didn't want to answer someone, then just don't.

Thank you to those who have provided kind helpful answers. I'm still going to assume she was confusing the full size aerosol in a carryon with what they said. I looked up the list and I think CC just mentioned Alaska Airlines because that's who they were flying with. Not that it was specifically an Alaskan rule.

I just got off the Disney Wonder in Alaska and did not fly but drove to Vancouver. I had an aerosol bug spray in my backpack that I took on and off the ship at every port. Not once was it a problem.
