Strange Question ... Maybe

DD, DH, DM and I are flying into MCO. DM is staying with us one night and is not registered. She is staying with us one night, her birthday is the next day and a friend is picking her up. Any suggestions to get her and us together to WDW? Can we pay for Magical Express? She is elderly and needs us to be with her. We have a car rented, but wondered if my Disboard family had some other creative suggestions.

Unfortunately, if your dm isn't listed on your resort reservation, she isn't going to be able to ride the DME bus. Is the rest of the family going in the rental car?? Or are you all riding DME to the resort?
If you aren't renting the car until you get to WDW, and everyone else is riding the DME bus, the only recourse you will have is to head to the Mears counter and pay for her to ride the Mears bus...about $18 or so, one way. Now...she may very well be put on the same bus you are riding on (the DME bus) but I wouldn't count on it. And since she's elderly and needs someone with her, then someone is going to have to be there, on the Mears bus, with her.
If at all possible, I would add her to the room reservation. Of course, that may not be possible if you have booked a package.

You are right of course, but we were wondering if there was some creative way we could get around it!

Nope....only those on a reservation are entitled to ride the bus. No 'creative' way around it.
I guess I'm confused...if you have a rental car, why can't she ride with you?

To pick her up would probably be easiest and the least confusing. It would also be faster than DME. Use that car you are renting.

This is what I don't get, too...what other "creative" way could there be?

If you are not planning on picking the car up at MCO, then I agree with goofy4tink that one of the adults going with your mother on a Mears bus at $18 each is the best option.
