When my Wife and I purchased our points earlier in the year, after the DVC presentation on the Magic, I seem to recall the salesperson making a comment to the effect that if we couldn't get our desired reservation the first time we wanted to use our points, we should call him, as DVC always holds back a few units in inventory.

Am I delusional in thinking I heard this, or has anyone else run across this before?

No, you are not dilusional....:)....Disney will take rooms out of inventory to satisfy new members who want to book right away with their points...this is a one time thing.....contact your guide and they will take care of it for you. :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure I've read about other people having their guide making their first reservation. Call your guide and ask.

My neighbors are in the purchase process. They were told that DVC would do whatever it could to get them their preferred reservation for their first DVC member visit, if they are making that first reservation within a month of their closing. I guess that's a good reason to buy direct.

However, be aware that this is not always easy with certain room types because there must be rooms available to do this. With the resorts that have yet to sell out, it is easier.

If someone wants to buy AKV and really wants a concierge room, the guide won't be able to secure that if the members have them all booked as those are rooms that, from what I have been told, available for booking by all members.

But, generally speaking, there have been reports of people buying in to BLT and being able to secure a December reservation (LV) on short notice becaue the guide booked it for them.
