Strange question about sharing meals

I had gastric bypass surgery 3 months ago so obviously, I can't eat much at meals. We want to take our daughter to Ariel's Grotto for her birthday but there is no way I can eat all the food for an adult (or a kid for that matter). I'm not trying to be cheap at all - just don't want to waste food. Is there anyway I can order an adult meal and my 10 yr old and I can split it (and not order her a kid's meal)?

Again, I'm not being cheap - there would just be SO much food wasted if we each ordered a meal.

Anyone know if someone can go in there and not order and just share?

Thank!

As far as I know, you would not be able to do that. They charge you for each person, except for very small children.

They will charge for both of you...unfortunate about the meal but they are also charging for the added entertainment. I think it's well worth it! My kids love the character meals...in fact they are so excited they hardly eat! It's so fun to watch their faces as the characters come and go...

Since it is a character meal, I believe each person in the party has to have their own meal, unless they are under 3 yo. The price isn't just for food, it's for the character interaction as well.

Yep--you just have to pay for it per person. I know it can seem wasteful, but you just have to let that part go.

I am a very small eater by nature, and I learned a long time ago just to eat what I want and leave the rest. I don't feel guilty about it anymore. It is actually a healthier mindset in many ways. Although it took me a looong time to become at peace with it after being raised by my mom--who saw wasting food as the ultimate sin!

So this may be a good exercise for you as well. Just eat exactly what you want, and leave the food and food wasting guilt behind.

Well, poo. I kinda thought that is how it would be because you are paying for the experience. Oh well, that's okay. I guess I'll just tell DH to skip lunch so he can snack off of my plate as well.

Thanks!

Contact Disney, I believe I heard that something could be done (most likely you getting a childs meal or portion) if you had a "card" stating you had, had a Gastric Bypass. I know that at least at the buffets they had some option if I remember correctly. You might want to search the boards cause I know this topic has come up before.

the adult meal there includes an appetizer/salad and dessert, so it's quite a large meal for a set price. I was therefore going to suggest that if there's anything you don't wish to eat, ask them not to bring it to the table. That will cut down on food waste. :)

Wanted to say try calling this number they should be able to help you

I agree with this. It's at least worth a shot?

Chip and Dale's critter Breakfast would be a good choice for a character meal for you. Your family can order the buffet if they would like and you can order off the menu. I think you and your daughter would have enough in one meal to share. take a look at the menu---I had to do a search bia google to get menu). Any character meal is fun. Being the other is princess may be issue but Chip and Dale do a fun follow the leader even during the meal. Service was great and Food was DE --- Lisious.

If this is not an option I would call and offer to pay an entertainment fee for your meal as you are unable to eat adult sized meals for medical reasons.

Good luck have fun

I have heard repeatedly that at buffets you can show a card from your doctor, and you will be charged the child's price.

I don't know if that will work at Ariel's, to show the card and order a kid's meal or kid's portion, but it might!

By the way, rather than calling Disney Dining (who know nothing about the actual restaurants, it seems, and I've been told by CMs at the restaurants), I would probably call Disneyland itself, to get the phone number, if possible, for the actual restaurant. So you can talk to the CMs there directly, rather than get half-knowledge from the Disney Dining people.

I agree with what Bumber said in both of the above posts. You *should* be able to get the child's price, if you have some medical proof, and I would definitely confirm it with the actual restaurant before and get a name so you can reconfirm it when you check-in.

Yup, I've heard that as well. If you have a card stating you had that surgery you can order off the children's menu. Not sure if it's correct but call Ariel's Grotto and I'm sure they will tell you. :) Good luck and enjoy your meal!!
