Strange question about Mickey Bars & Turkey Legs

My husband and I are sitting here discussing (right now as I type) how we will be paying for things in the parks. We leave on Sunday! Woo Hoo!!

Anyway, I think we should get the pre-paid cards, or just use the resort "Keys To The Whole Place....World", Kingdom", I can't remember what it's called. But he thinks he remembers not being able to use anything but cash for the ice cream carts (Mickey Bars) and Turkey Legs (which actually frighten me). But I think that you can use the room cards, gift cards, credit cards for those carts.

Anyone know??

I love the guy, so I'll probably be fine if I'm in the wrong. ;) But for the sake of Freakishly Huge Turkey Legs...he needs to know.

we used Disney dining..so can't help you there

But those big turkey legs are crazy! :stir:

Thanks anyway.......anyone else ever buy a turkey leg (not off the dining plan), or a Mickey Bar?

Where can we find the turkey legs?

In Magic Kingdom there is a cart in Liberty Square, right in the square, sort of across from the Riverboat. There are also locations in the other parks.

About a year ago I saw something on the Food Channel that dispelled the myth that they are something other than turkey. They were traced all the way back to the farms they use, I think. But they are just ginormous turkeys!!

all of the carts and kiosks in WDW are wi-fi now, so using a credit card, debit card, resort key card or even a prepaid Disney card will work at these food outlets. In fact I used my room card in Mayof 2005 and had no problems at all.

Thanks so much - I'd better add some more money on to the pre-paid card then. You never know how many Turkey Legs/Mickey Bars someone may need. :thumbsup2

Yup you can certainly use your key to the world when you purchase from the venders now...

I will be trying my very first turkey leg this summer! I have been there like a gazillion times and never tried one. Always said I was going to and never did... this time I budgeted for one and darnit, I am going to have one!!

You go Thinktinknpixiedust, show that turkey leg who's boss!!

I think you can also get them in MGM near TOT and RnR, at least I think I remember people eating them around there.

We have seen these at other parks. My ds had a fit for one last year at Silver Dollar City. Well, he didn't get one. We ate a regular lunch in the park. Anyway I am going to let him get one at our first trip to WDW. I thought firat trip first turkey leg!!! Anyway my questions are How messy? How Good? and How Much?

Last trip this March, we did find the one place in WDW that you cannot use the key to charge. It was the funnel cake stand outside of America in Epcot. The way the cashier phrased it made it seem like this was an always thing as opposed to a temporary problem.

This is so funny, we just said the SAME THING tonight, about (finally) trying the turkey legs. We have been there a million times and always walk right past them. This time, WE'RE TRYING ONE! Great minds think alike! :teeth:

We love the emu, um I mean turkey, legs! They taste more like ham than turkey becasue of the way they are smoked. Very, very messy! We like to get one at MGM across from B&TB so that we can sit and eat them. We are always attacked by birds when we get them in MK. I pack a few extra wet wipes just for this treat. I think the cost is aroung $5.

We found the only place we couldn't use some sort of plastic was at the vendors that sell all the glowy stuff at night and the balloon guys. I don't know about the funnel cakes in Epcot as I paid cash. Maybe the Cards get too sticky from all that sugar :goodvibes

Love them legs - the ones in MK were better than Epcot. The Epcot ones were really tough, just barely done, the ones in MK were falling off the bone! Yum, Yum..............

The turkey legs are great! I don't think they are too messy. My DD 12 walked by herself from Indiana Jones to TOT area to buy one and back to the arena for the show, so she could eat one for lunch while watching the show. ( no one else would walk that far with her when they could be sitting down waiting)

Heck, half the reason we go is the turkey legs :mickeybar :drinking1

No such thing as a strange question when it comes to Mickey bars and Turkey legs. I have to pay cash for those or I would have a $2000 bill waiting for me at the end. :teeth: Mmm, turkey legs and Mickey bars.
Take care

No way! That's a great tip! I've always wondered if I could use a debit/credit card at carts. The less cash I have in hand, the better! :rotfl2:

I was dying for a hot chocolate one night, and that was the only stand that had them. But they don't take the dining plan, they don't take credit, and we never bring cash to WDW! I was soooooo disappointed! Someone needs to remind them this is 2006.
