Strange park ticket question

Okay, we are booked with a Disney vacation package including MYW park tickets for 6 days.

Am I correct that you can upgrade these tickets to an annual pass? Furthermore, do you have to be physically present to do this? One person in our party may cancel last minute; so, rather than being out the ticket price we would convert for her to an annual pass and she could go at another time. Can this be done?

Yes, you can upgrade to an annual pass. Adults have to be there in person. You could save the ticket for her (unused) and upgrade it the next time she goes, her year would start then, you don't lose it.

A little further explanation is that this is not a stand alone park ticket; it's related to the number of days of our package and connected with the package. I always thought if your time is done; so, are your park tickets; unless, you upgrade to an annual pass.

If that's wrong I'm happy. So, if I'm wrong are you saying I can get a 6 day park ticket which is the length of our stay for her to use or upgrade in the future?

Once a ticket is used to enter a park..the ticket expires in 14 days.
But unused tickets do not start their clock.
A number of AP holders book free dining packages, don't use the included tickets, and on a future trip use those package tickets (sometimes to buy another AP or renewal)

If one person may or may not come and your more than 45 days out- why not decrease your park tickets to a one day ticket to bring down the initial cost and then upgrade to the AP's on arrival for those who make the trip? Then you end up with a one day ticket in your MDE instead of a 6?

But then you only get 1 day of advanced FP+ Reservations.
