I just a message from e-gold that my account may have been accessed by a third party!!! :confused3

Recently I traded my e-gold for paypal--this was over a month ago and I dont have anything in that account anymore--

also none of my programs I use e-gold.

it says I should check my account and then click the link in the email to (I think) it said to unfreeze my account

Im not with computers but I do know not to click a link in an email

what should I do?

I supposse I should close that account since Im not going to use it anymore
the only reason I had it was with those run by Gilby programs only paid in e-gold but those since not closed and I just let the account sit until I could figure out how to get the money out

please help

thanks

Sounds like it could be a "phishing" email. Contact e-gold directly on your own to verify that they sent it. I get similar e-mails once in a while regarding my Paypal account and none of them have been legit--it's becoming a very common scam. You click the link and enter your account information and now they have complete access to your account.

BTW, somewhere on the Paypal site there is info on how to spot a "phishing" email.

I think your accout is fine people send those emails out all the time to get you to access your account through the page they have set up. That way they get all the information and can get into your account themselves. I get those emails all the time from paypal! If you are really concerned you can send an email or call them but I wouldn't worry about it.

I sort of thought thats what is was but it scares you!!!!

I forgot to mention too that the email didnt have any heading--like my name or anything it just right into about a third party...

I should probably go in and close that account since none of the programs I do I use e-gold

thanks again

Often when you get these emails, if you put your mouse over the link and look at the bottom of the screen, the address (url) will show and it is usually something other than egold.com, chase bank, paypal, etc.

I get these constantly from eBay and paypal, but they are always sent to me at an email address that I don't have eBay or paypal associated with.

When in doubt, trust your instincts, and forward the email to egold, too. They can check it out for you.

I used to always send the ones I got to PP or Ebay, but after doing it probably 100 or more times, now I just delete them.

Damn scammers, should be hung up by the short hairs.
