Do you ever catch a glimpse of characters from the meals in the resort lobby? Specifically, DH, DS 3 and I plan to hang aroung the Grand Floridian while the older boys do the pirate cruise. I had reserved 1900 Park Fare so that the little guy could see Pooh and Tigger (wouldn't have a clue about Mary Poppins and the Alice characters). However, with the dining surcharge  this will cost us $60. Now I'm thinking that we will eat at breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. He wouldn't want to get too close to the characters anyway, just seeing them from a distance would do. What do you think?

I think you should stick with 1900 Park Fare.

We've stayed at the Grand multiple times, and we usually eat at the Grand Cafe. Many times, the "viewing doors" that allows peaks into 1900 Park Fare are closed off. If those doors are closed, then your DS will not get to see any characters.

No.

At the restaurants the Characters arrive from backstage, and they follow a pre-planned path around the room so they stop at each table.
